Why water matters

How people relate to water is one of the most critical issues facing developed communities in the modern era. However important this may be, information about how people are interacting with their space is sorely lacking. Being able to interact directly with residents represents a huge advantage in this space. Our idea is to build a system to interact directly with water consumers to ask them these kinds of questions.

Water

Water suppliers are very interested in how people are actually using their water, while consumer are interested in how policies are going to effect them, and where they fit in the broader context of water conservation policies. Water is a limited resource than needs to be managed in a way to support many, often very different stakeholders.

Matters

Knowing how consumers are interacting with their space allows water suppliers to estimate future use. These kinds of estimates can be used to predict infrastructure needs, and future demand. Likewise, water consumers want to know what the future holds for them. Will they be required to reduce consumption? What implication will policy have for them.

Understanding and thinking through these issues will be central to the story of water in the 21st century.
