Why we believe people want to motivate others and how it shapes Focido

We’ve been exploring a core question behind Focido: why would anyone want to be a motivator?

The answer, backed by research, is that helping others is intrinsically rewarding. People get emotional uplift (“warm glow”), a helper’s high, stronger relationships, more meaning, and often better long-term wellbeing.

This changed how we think about product design.
Instead of treating motivation as a one-way flow, we’re building Focido as a two-sided system: people who need support, and people who want to give it.

We’d love feedback from the Indie Hackers community:
What makes you want to help someone follow through on a goal?
