Why We Created an App for People Who Hate Planning Vacations!

It's simple—no one should be made to put up with the things they hate!

Hi Indie Hackers! 🙌

I recently wrote a pretty successful article here about "How We Created an App for People Who Hate Planning Vacations!" but today, I want to state clearly why we dared to take on this challenge.

At Trameter, we designed our mobile travel app specifically for those who love vacations but dread the tedious process of planning them—because we believe they shouldn’t have to.

I'm curious: Do you also believe that travel planning should be effortless, leaving you more time to enjoy your adventures rather than stressing over details? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

By the way, we just launched Trameter on Product Hunt, and it would mean the world to me if you could check it out and share your feedback: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/trameter-2

Thanks a ton in advance! 🌍✈️

Love the idea of making travel planning easier, but solo budget travelers like me are kind of stuck with planning things in a silo. I like to do a lot of credit card points hacking for my flights, creating lists of super niche and lowkey restaurants that not everyone knows about, deciding between the best airbnbs/hostels/hotels, and so much more.

I recently started using the website "Roam Travel" to actually cut down the time I spend calculating credit card transfer points to airlines; the website shows me exactly how many points I need to maximize the transfer amounts to airlines.

I wonder if there's a way you could partner with Roam Travel to also provide that option (Add flights that show how many credit card transfer points you need to purchase)

Cool idea, wonder if there is some synergy with my site www.tvfoodmaps.com . We have some travel planning tools but specifically for finding restaurants seen on FoodTV shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. If you are interested in some collaboration let me know.

Hi hi! Thanks for reaching out. Your site sounds like a fantastic resource. I can definitely see some interesting synergy between our platforms, especially when it comes to enhancing the travel experience with great dining options. I’m open to exploring collaboration possibilities—Yes! Let’s connect and see how we can bring our ideas together.

    Hi Modupe,

Your approach with Trameter resonates with me so much! The idea of simplifying vacation planning for those who find it overwhelming is spot on. I’m definitely one of those people who love traveling but get bogged down by the details, so I can see how Trameter would be a game-changer.

It’s refreshing to see an app designed with the user’s pain points in mind, and I love how you’re making travel planning effortless. I’ll definitely check out your Product Hunt launch and share my thoughts.

Thanks for creating something that makes life easier for travelers like me!

Hi Drew! Comments like yours really make my day—it’s exactly for travelers like us, who get bogged down by the details, that we built Trameter. We wanted to take the overwhelm out of planning and make travel more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. I’m so glad the approach resonates with you.

Thanks a ton for supporting our launch on Product Hunt and sharing your thoughts. Have you had a chance to check out the app yet? I’d love for you to explore Trameter for your next trip and let me know how it goes. Thanks again for the kind words!

I’m the type of guy that likes to buy stuff by stuff for a travel, and also I like to organize all the events I can have with my family, but this takes timeee and until everybody agrees it’s a long way. Not sure if you have this in your app, but a place make family vote on what places that wanna go ina travel based o some options I provide can be good, e.g.: travel to Orlando, I create a pool with Disney, Universal, ICON and more places, allows people to choose 2 places and the most voted is our places to go. I love this idea, not sure if I can use from Brazil (where I live), but I’ll take a look more on this.

Hi I totally understand the struggle of organizing a family trip—it can be a real challenge! Your idea of having a place where family members can vote on travel destinations is fantastic, and it’s something we’d love to explore further.

Trameter is all about making travel planning easier, and adding features that facilitate group decision-making could be a natural next step. As for using the app from Brazil, we’re expanding our reach, so stay tuned! I’d love for you to give Trameter a try and see how it works for your family when the time comes.

Glad to see this product here. I've had similar idea 2 months ago but I changed it to create SnapNews.

That travel preparation assistant idea is actually mentioned on my product in "Sicily" post. Check it out, maybe it can inspire you to implement some new features 🙃

As someone who can spend months planning a trip, I think you’ve got a really awesome start here and I love the concept. I realize this is probably an MVP so my feedback is based on the main things that would immediately up-level the product for me:

    1. Multiple city destinations. If I fly into Tokyo, Narita, several days later I want to be able to take a bullet train to Hiroshima and not have to figure out timing with hotel checkouts/checkins and departures/arrivals. This takes me so long to chart out manually.

    2. I’m very picky about the flights I choose and greater customization here, including multiple departure ports and flight options would be great.

    3. Similarly, my husband and I are very particular about some aspects of the hotel amenities (bed sizes for one) and more options here would be great.

I really love the toggle between the different budgets. Along these lines, having a daily estimate of travel expenses for the area you’ll be in could be super helpful.

Looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

Hi @Amzn_zahi Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback! I’m glad you love the concept and see the potential in what we’re building with Trameter. You’re absolutely right—this is our MVP, and we’re already working on ways to up-level the experience. Multiple city destinations and more customization for flights and hotels are definitely on our radar. We want to make sure that every detail of your trip aligns with your preferences, down to the bed size and timing between cities.

I’m also thrilled that you appreciate the budget toggle feature. A daily estimate of travel expenses is a great idea, and I’ll be sure to share this with the team as we continue to evolve. Thanks again for your insights—they’re invaluable as Trameter evolves. I can’t wait for you to see the improvements we roll out next! For now, please plan away and continue to share your thoughts!

Travel should always be fun and that fun should begin from the thought to the planning process, booking and beyond. The planning phase is indeed the most dreaded, even for me - so this, dang this will make travel even more enjoyable. Super-good job 👏

    1. 1

You’re so right—travel should be fun from the very beginning, including the planning process! Thanks for the kind words and for recognizing the value in what we’re doing.

      Thank you for your support!
