Hey Community!
Sometimes when I’m asked what I want to do after I graduate college I usually say „I want to build a digital platform to help people in XYZ…“
In some quiet minutes later I start asking myself the question why I actually want to do so.
Why do I really want to help people? Will they be thankful for what you are offering to them? Not really… they will probably take it for granted. Will they do more good with it? Probably not, they will use it to get the most out of it themselves.
I know that this perspective is very pessimistic but if I wanna build platforms about something it should be for the sake of the people and not because I just like building things. What is your take on this viewpoint? How do you feel about building something „world changing“ for unthankful egoistic human beings that don’t want to change the world like you do?
(Take this post with a little ease tho. I tried to exaggerate a bit to make my point come across more clearly)
Isn't that often just a "feel good" way of saying "I want to build something that people are willing to pay money for"?
I think even if people won't appreciate what you've done for them, they will at least pay you if your product is worth paying for.
And that's one of the main reasons you should build for people, to help them and make income from it, not just to get credits. I suppose!
Try reversing the idea… “I want to build something that doesn’t help anyone with anything”… might work 😅
Yep that's what i thought but ended up building something that helps people 😅
