Why you should not use AI content as is

AI writing assistants are now popular tools for content creation.

These tools use natural language processing and AI-powered algorithms to generate written content that needs minimal input from the user.

While these tools have made creating content easier and faster, it is important to remember that you still need human input to make the final product high-quality.

However, many business owners believe that they don't need professional content writers just because they can use AI.

A lot of new marketers think that they can simply give instructions to AI and get perfect content that is ready to go live.

And let me tell you they are mistaken. Why? Well, that’s what I am going to explain here, i.e, why you should not use AI content as it is.

Let’s learn to look out for possible mistakes and opportunities to improve AI-generated content. Also, you’ll understand that it is important to build your content writing and marketing skills for your content creation to be effective. Let's start learning!

AI Will Not Make Content Sound Like You

While it is true that you can get AI platforms to generate content based on hundreds of tones, they still cannot match your personal, authentic voice.

There are numerous little phrases, emotions, words, and nuances that go into building your unique way of communicating.

And while it can do a good job of matching your tone to some degree. But still you’d want to edit and improve AI-generated content and make it sound more like you.

AI Generates Repetitive Content

Even if you have a good content writing tool, it can still produce repetitive phrases and patterns when it comes to long-form content.

For example, the same phrase might be used multiple times in an article. Or the same sentence structure gets repeated over and over again. Suppose you’re reviewing some web analytics tools, and you're using AI tools to write the blog post.

It might happen that the AI tool might repeat the same sentence structure for every different product you're reviewing. Or it might follow the same pattern for every paragraph.

It becomes pretty obvious when a post is AI generated because you’ll see the same styling, phrasing, and cadence everywhere.

That's why when editing such AI-generated content, aim to make it sound more natural and human. Substitute words for synonyms or rearrange sentences to break up the monotony of the text. Additionally, add sections with relevant facts from trusted sources as well as your own unique opinions - this will give your content more depth and authority.

Many Publications Reject AI Content

AI content detectors have emerged alongside content generation tools. And many media publications rely on them to check whether the guest post and other content they received is created by a human or not.

Despite the fact that AI content detectors still do not have the ability to accurately determine whether a blog post or article is AI-generated or not, many publications use them to filter out content nevertheless.

If you want to ensure that your content passes AI detection tests, then you can do that by making edits and rewriting parts of such content.

AI Produces False Information

You cannot rely on tools like ChatGPT and others to create factual content.

It’s always better to do your own research and gather information from relevant sources. Then insert them into your AI content tool and ask it to refer to this information and build content.

Also, be mindful that AI produces garbled material as well as false facts. It can also make up information from scratch just to meet your requirements. If you rely on AI to provide clients with written content, you could get into trouble if you are not careful.

Always take the time to edit and do research and ensure that your content is factually correct.

AI Lacks Contextual Understanding

AI writing assistants can’t capture the full picture. They might miss important details or nuances, which can result in shallow content.

As a content creator, it's essential to supplement your work with your expertise. By adding your own knowledge and context, you enhance the value of AI-generated content. This combination allows you to create more meaningful, engaging, and captivating material for your audience, strengthening the connection you have with them.

For example, let's say you're writing an article about healthy eating. The AI writing assistant provides you with some basic information about the benefits of fruits and vegetables. However, it fails to mention the importance of organic produce or the impact of local sourcing on sustainability. By adding these details yourself, you ensure that your readers receive a more comprehensive and insightful article on healthy eating habits.

Little Creativity and Originality

AI tools are great at generating content based on patterns and data, but they struggle with being creative and original. To make our content truly engaging and unique, we need to think outside the box, explore new angles, and offer fresh perspectives.

By adding our human creativity to AI-generated content, we bring it to life and make it captivating. When we combine our creativity with AI algorithms, we create content that stands out and delivers amazing experiences.

Imagine you're running a travel blog and want to write a blog post about the top destinations for adventure enthusiasts.

You decide to use an AI writing tool to help you with the content. The AI tool generates a well-structured article that includes popular adventure destinations like hiking in the Swiss Alps, zip-lining through the Costa Rican rainforest, and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.

However, while the AI tool provides you with a solid foundation, you realize that the content lacks a creative touch and fails to capture the essence of each destination.

So, you dive in and infuse your own creativity into AI-generated content. Do this by adding anecdotes, pictures, and personal tips that no AI could ever know about or come up with.

For example, how locals in an area prefer to receive money and in what currency. Or small locations with fewer crowds but with similar or better experiences.

Lacks Understanding of Your Target Audience

To truly connect with your audience, it's important to understand their needs, interests, and motivations better than any AI tool can.

While AI tools are useful, they may not fully grasp the preferences and interests of your target audience. By tailoring the content generated by AI to your specific readers, you add a personal touch that resonates on a deeper level.

For instance, let's say you're running a fashion blog. The AI tool provides you with a general article about fashion trends, but it lacks a tailored approach.

You know that your audience consists mostly of young professionals who value sustainable fashion. By infusing your own knowledge about eco-friendly brands and sharing tips on conscious shopping, you transform the AI-generated content into a valuable resource that speaks directly to your audience's interests and values.

Reiterate and Regenerate Content

Many people who use AI to generate social media posts, blog posts, and other types of material hit the generate button once and use the given output.

However, you should ask the AI to give you multiple generations or hit the regenerate button to see what else the AI can produce.

Very often, the first output may not be satisfactory, but you can improve it by adding a few more instructions. Or by using the regenerate option to produce a new set of content.

You can also use the regenerate option to create related pieces of content. For example, if you’re writing about sustainable fashion brands as an article. Then get the AI to refer to this and build social media posts that drive engagement.

In this way, reiterations and regenerations will help you improve your content and you won't have to go with the very first output you get.

Over to You

There is no point in ignoring AI as a necessary and useful content-creation tool.

However, you need to be mindful that you don't go with just anything that the AI produces.

You still need to verify what it creates and improve it through editing and research.

And always remember to add a human touch by including examples, personal anecdotes and small phrases and words that sound like you.

You should always edit and improve AI generator content before publishing it to the world.

In this way, you can scale your content creation and avoid errors that can harm your brand image and reputation. I hope these tips have helped you. Please leave a comment with additional ideas if you can share them.

Now this is real content. Thanks for gathering so much information.

Your post only needs one more ironic thing: "P.S.: This post was fully written by Chat-GPT." Haha

I have seen many indie hackers built AI based solution trying to “fully replace” human. I think with the AI capabilities right now, building a productized service to “assist” human is the better way to go.

I have developed multiple features in our projects using with AI, including content creation. Chat-GPT by its own will not create good results, it its used with Semantic Search, it will generate perfect results. Still there's no shortcut to high rank in Google :)

Yes, I think the same. Let's not loose creativity in the process.
