👋 Hey fellow makers,
I am a Visual Designer with more than 5 years of experience in working with tech startups. I currently work as a product designer in Bangalore, IN.
I have been doing a lot of freelance design work lately. (https://www.madebyv.co) Most of it is Visual/Bra
Your work looks great, aren't you devaluing yourself by working for free?
Hey Kyle,
Yes, I understand and I partly agree with your comment. I quit my full-time job two years back and started focusing on designing a watch and a very fancy brand. (www.vimeo.com/cmbm/xylex).
But after being broke and left with a lot of stress and nothing else, I decided to focus on doing what I am good at (design, branding, illustrations) and improving that. I'm still struggling and figuring out a plan to restart the journey.
The thing about freelancing is when I was working on the watch, I had to turn down a lot of clients and now coming back to it means I have to start from scratch. I figured this would be a good way to establish some good relationships with some makers that might convert into a good word of mouth or paid clients themselves in the future.
As I said, I'm not entirely sure of how this is going to work out. I have been happy to connect with some very interesting products so far.
I read your bio and I could relate to what you're doing, that's why my reply is a bit longer.
We are sending you email.
Great stuff.
