Will you ever get back to an office?

Hell no, I don't think I will ever get back to a corporate office, I go to work in shared spaces from time to time to be around people and that's about the right dose for me..

No — pre-pandemic I spent an hour a day in a car, at least and hated every minute of the commute because it was time spent away from my family and the things that bring me joy.

Going permanently remote was a huge change in my quality of life:

• Eating a healthy, homemade lunch every day, even if I didn't remember to make something ahead of time
• Having coffee every morning with my wife before starting the day
• Being home during the day to deal with household chores/contractors/deliveries
• Sold one of our cars, saving hundreds of dollars each month
• Having time and space to exercise every day with the time that used to be spent sitting in traffic

I never enjoyed the social aspect of work very much — I got along fine with people but prefer to keep my work and personal lives separate — so there is basically nothing that I miss about in-office work.

I have not been in on in 10 years. And I'm not planing to back any time soon :)

I highly doubt I'll ever go back to the traditional office. I've been fully remote for five years, it's been a game-changer for my work and side hustles.

Pre-pandemic never worked in an office.

So me going back there is 0%. lol

Coworking spaces can be fun though but not every day.

For me, an hybrid model is the best. I like working remotely because I get to spend time with my family (launch time for example), avoid commuting, and also get to go to places to change (for instance I sometimes work at Starbucks, University, even on the car). But on the other hand, every time I go to the office I enjoy being around people and having conversations that remotely don't happen

I'd hate to be permanently remote, I prefer the office as you actually get to talk about things outside of work which you don't really get a chance when working remotely.

Where I work we're currently doing a hybrid, normally 3 days a week although currently reduced to 2 days due to the fuel prices but hybrid i think gives you the best of both worlds.

I'm working remotely now for 1,5 years.

I will never change back to an office for my default option.

But, a lot of (not all) meetings I still prefer in-person.
I once worked for a company where they do strategy sessions, and after they grab a drink together.
I think this is important if you are a strong team.
I feel that when working remotely, this team-connection didn't got as strong as it was.

I'm not even sure I'm ready for going back to being an employer :)

I actually didn't hate going to an office. The commute gave some time to read, and the office removed some of the distractions. I also realized that the occasional chat at the coffee machine is nice.

On the other hand, I could've never started what I am right now if I had to go to an office. I'm doing some consulting now, and have projects in different cities which would've never worked if I had to go there.

At my latest non-remote job I had close to an hour commute. That is 2 hours per day. Now I'm working in a remote-only company and it is extremely smooth, and really good collaboration. I also love the flexibility of working from home, or wherever I want (co-working space, office of a friend's company, etc) - I just get so much more quality time both for work and for non-work activities.

I have a hard time seeing going back to commuting that much.

Recently took a private office in a co-working space and not looking back.
I loved my home office, and my setup, but being in my own office with other people around really helped me focus.

It does help that it's only a 5 min commute.

Someone definitely needs to get back to office, because it's really not easy for Junior like me to remotely control all the working processes and learn something 😓

I miss the office, but not the commute :)

I have to be honest I really miss the office vibe, playing kicker with my peers, drinking a beer... As I am writing this I realized that it might seem that I worked in a bar XD, but it was actually a tech company. Anyway, I am a solopreneur and I replaced that by a virtual office in the WBE Space, which is still cool and allows me to hangout with people from all over the world...
