In our company, a very curious incident occurred. While trying to implement a module for users to unsubscribe, we accidentally unsubscribed all users from the textflip.ai This resulted in an immediate drop in revenue from $540MRR to zero. Moreover, there is now no way to resubscribe them. This means the reset is final and irreversible.
In all my time working, this is the first time something like this has happened. It turns out that with just one careless move, you can wipe out an entire company's revenue.
The project is only 2 months old.
Did anyone experience anything similar?
If that's Stripe you should be able to resubscribe them in the dashboard and with code.
I would suggest to let customers know before doing so
You still have email addresses?
Time to email them something that shows humility and offers them gratitude for sharing your app with their friends to hopefully "gain back" from the loss. You might actually wind up with a higher MRR next month if done correctly
As others note, there may be ways to salvage at least some of it, but wow, that's got to smart. Of course, what you haven't lost is the service or the ability to find new customers. In the long run, this will be a funny little blip from the early days.
Sometimes we make stupid mistakes however I think you can send mail to your customers.
Tip: Add some new feature
From the site, it appears the mrr was from subscribers to your plans. Won't the payment processing provider have the customer details?
