Without a Goal You Can’t Score

Earlier this week I wrote a blog post about setting long-term goals for our startup. The idea was that by defining the end-goal we could establish a better vision for the company and create concrete, achievable goals in the near-team.

One aspect of the exercise was that it needed to be done without restrictions. Why hold ourselves to a "realistic" endpoint? Who knows what could or will happen? Why not aim for the highest point?

So that's what I did. The following is a quick timeline I made for us to go from two to 5,000 employees. I get that it's far-fetched but who cares?! If we can hit some of the points listed we'll be on our way to building something great.

The goals are things like getting our first inbound subscription, hitting $1,000 Monthly Run Rate, and hiring 10 employees. If we're aiming to meet these checkpoints then we know we're moving in the right direction. Maybe eventually we'll hit $100,000 MRR, and hire 100 employees. Again, we'll need to revisit the plan as we progress but at least we have a good place to start.

It's not going to be easy but with perseverance and consistent effort, you'll definitely can make it. Good luck, Matt!

Thanks so much! We've learned so much already about our business and about perseverance in this short time. Tons more to learn as we continue to grow.
