WordSmash - A vibe coded typing challenge game

Recently, I set out to create Word Smash, an engaging typing challenge inspired by the classic game Typing Maniac. Typing Maniac was originally a favorite in our household—something my kids and I enjoyed playing together, as it was both entertaining and a fun way to help them improve their typing skills.

To bring this idea to life quickly and effectively, I leveraged two powerful tools: Vibe coding and Cursor.

Vibe coding, which involves using AI tools to assist in generating code, allowed me to rapidly prototype gameplay mechanics, enabling seamless iterations as I refined the game's responsiveness and difficulty levels. Its intelligent suggestions meant I could visualize changes immediately, keeping my workflow smooth and efficient.

Cursor complemented this by helping me effortlessly manage dependencies, debug, and maintain clean, readable code. Its intelligent coding assistance streamlined repetitive tasks and caught potential errors early, saving valuable development time.

Thanks to these innovative tools, Word Smash quickly evolved from concept to playable game. Players now enjoy racing against the clock, frantically typing falling words to achieve high scores and test their typing prowess.

Using Vibe coding and Cursor made developing Word Smash not only faster but significantly more enjoyable, proving that choosing the right tools can dramatically enhance both productivity and creativity.
