Work From Home is On the Way OUT, Here is What to Consider
The entire work from home (WFH) trend is starting to loose its luster. Data of class A office space leases now show 2019 levels.
WFH was never a sustainable model, more of a forced reaction to a needed solution.
IF you are just operating, and plugging away, YES. WFH is viable
IF you are innovating, NO. WFH can be a disaster.
It will definitely be an interesting next 12 months.
As a developer,
I won't work for a company that demands me to go the office...
I have no problem with Hybrid model but as long as I get to choose what days I want to come.
From my experience companies that can't work properly from WFH, have communication issues and going back to the office won't really help them 😅
I don't think this is necessarily important for Indie Hackers, unless they are specifically building something in the work-from-home space, I guess.
But otherwise, I'd imagine 95% + of Indiehackers here are 'WFH' simply because they are working on a project by themselves (hence, indie), likely at home.
Of course, the trend goes downwards (although I haven't seen any numbers, it was expected) as many companies are going back to working from the office now that most restrictions are lifted. However, I am interested to see numbers on how many companies have decided to stick with WFH.
WFH was never a sustainable model for companies who were still holding on to their in-office habits. However, many companies have adopted WFH/remote work well and are now closing their offices to go entirely remotely or hybridly.
Innovating while WFH can be a disaster, but innovating while working from an office can also be disastrous. It's all about how well a company functions and what systems they use.
