There's a lot of business function I'd love to remove the dependency on my laptop for.
Before reading your question, I was obsessed with completely extracting myself from daily business operations.
Your question made me realize I'm okay with low-effort dependency in the meanwhile, like being able to do some tasks from my phone.
Not about wanting, but being able/forced to. People spend many hours commuting, waiting... and most of the time they only have their phone, not their laptop. Also, many people in the world don't even have a PC, but having a smartphone is becoming a standard even in the developing countries.
Fair enough. Actually a good point about there being so many people in the world who do not own a computer but do own a smart phone.
I have occasionally tried running my business through my iPhone for a couple of days while traveling or on holiday. Found it challenging but doable, as long as there's no creative work (design or coding) involved.
I have thought about this, given things like commute times and wait times. I don't think I could do it. Maybe buying a cheap tablet from Costco would make life easier.
