So...
You've built your cool MVP after reading PG interviews, inspirational tweets and inspiring IH interviews.
Your mental model looks like this:-
- Build audience before launching
- Don't build features that no-one wants
- Write articles and get SEO traffic
- Spend more time on promotion and not building your product.
You've got your homepage soaring to capture at least 100 sign-ups - which will give you an indication that you've 'built what people want'.
..and then
- You get only 27 sign-ups.
- All the DMs to 3 commenters on your tweet were ignored.
- Only 4 of the 27 people who signed up actually opened your email; but did not respond to your 'early offer'.
What do you do?
- Decide that it's not worth it?
- Decide on spending more time promoting the product?
Help me, please!
The question you should ask yourself is, do I really believe in my idea? because If I want to be honest 27 sign-ups is not that much! maybe try to have a bigger number. my advice stops trying to make it perfect and it's okay to lose some money while learning and experimenting.
Thank you for reply; @Moe1331. The problem here is - we can't figure out how much effort to put in before really figuring out if the idea is worth pursuing.
Maybe those 27 were casual surfers who signed up. I'd believe in the idea; but there's no way to know if I've built "something people want" right?
It is hard to answer hypothetically without knowing more about your project, pricing, competitors, etc.
