Workshopping a gifting idea

With the holidays approaching, I had an idea for a product called BiggerGift.

The pitch:
Sometimes, especially when you don't have (much) income, there are gifts you want that are too expensive to ask a single person to pay for. So what if you could ask several people to contribute to one bigger gift?

My initial idea was that it'd be a sort of private GoFundMe, where you'd share the link with any family/friends you want, and they can fun part of your gift.

But I'm worried that, since my product is aimed at people who are price conscious, would they be willing to pay an extra 3-5% on top of the gift's price? Another model I 've thought of is referral payouts, but then I'd somehow need to ensure that the purchase was made through a supported store, with my referral code applied, and I can't find a way to do that.
