Hey fellas,
I finished building a simple landing page for chiliclips.co and my goal with the landing page was to give a chill, fun, and playful vibe to the visitor, which I believe does that pretty well.
The issue is, I'm not the best copywriter and nor trying to be, and would love to hear your feedback on the copy. Whether it's appealing, and whether you understand how exactly it's going to work, and what you're getting from us.
The UX isn't the best but at some point will improve it.
Any feedback is welcome :D
Enjoy your weekend!
Hey Leon,
Great idea for a service, I have actually just launched a similar concept but for professional UX design (Lightning UX, linked in my profile).
Overall I think your landing page does a lot of things right and the style is beautiful, but like you said I think the copy could be tweaked to improve how quickly people understand what you’re offering.
In the hero, I’d suggest something along the lines of:
“A simple video marketing subscription to level up your content”
And then below…
“Get expertly-crafted video marketing content within days.”
I think your hero section could also do with some social proof (E.g. testimonials, number of users, how long you’ve been working as a video marketing pro etc.)
Hope that helps, let me know if you want to discuss anything or if you’d like any help with the UX/design.
Best,
Michael
Hey Michael, thank you so much for the feedback!
Appreciate the kind words. You provided a great copy to be honest. I will think about how I can tweak it and implement everything that you have suggested.
LightningUX's website looks really unique. How did you find out about this business model?
Hey, glad to be of service! I have been toying with the idea of my own agency for a little while, and then I came across DesignJoy which has a similar model but is more focused towards graphic and brand design more than UX, so I felt there is probably a gap in the market.
Still validating that, managed to get some decent support on Product Hunt yesterday, but will probably be doing more promotional work for the next few weeks trying to get it in front of people.
How about you?
That's awesome dude!
I watched a couple of podcasts about DesignJoy and decided to dig a bit deeper. I think most of the people that utilize this business model decided to take it to the next level after watching the interviews with Brett haha
I think it's a good idea to fill out the gap.
How do you plan to reach clients? I think once I launch on Product Hunt, I think I'll start doing cold emails. Will try a couple of channels and see what's working.
Ha yeah Brett definitely inspired a lot!
So far my plan is to try to reach clients quite organically. I’ve already started some cold emailing, but I’m also thinking of putting together some content directed at my target audience which can then feed back into the funnel for Lightning UX.
I like the idea of clients getting value before even coming on board, so I’ve been toying with the idea of making some UX services automated and hosting them on the site for potential clients to get a taste of what’s possible. I’m also hoping to get into some communities for startups and founders.
At some point, I’ll probably go down the paid ad route too.
How about you?
Sounds like a plan.
I looked into some communities but have to dig deeper.
I'm also planning to get into paid ads, specifically on Twitter. I'm currently working on my Twitter account and building an audience around that. Growing an account on social media takes lots of time and effort but slowly you see the progress.
Yeah I’m not big on Twitter but I think you could get decent traction there (rate limiting dependent!)
Would be good to keep in touch and compare notes on what works and what doesn’t, do you have a LinkedIn?
I'm still figuring Twitter out but hopefully with the right audience, and consistent engagement (which takes good effort), it might work out.
That's a good idea, Michael. Here's my profile :) https://www.linkedin.com/in/leonbuller/
See you there!
Hey Leon, I gave a look at your landing page.
I think the copy could use some rework. Especially the main headline which is a bit abstract and does not communicate the outcome.
Looking at your whole landing page, I think there are a few quick adjustments you can make to improve the conversion rate:
A $590/month subscription is not an impulsive buy. So you should provide more information about why they should pick you and not someone else. You can add more about yourself, your experience as a video producer, clients you worked with.
You need more social proof. I'd do anything in my power to get more testimonials.
The last section is redundant. Repeats the same info shown in the previous section.
You can add a comparison section of what it means to hire you vs a freelancer or hiring
Add more video samples. Consider creating a section with 4/6 video samples. Make the video size smaller, so you can fit 4/6 in a section. But they enlarge (lightbox) once the user clicks on it. This is related to the first point in this list. Somebody needs to trust you, and why the way to build credibility is through demonstration. In this case, demonstrating your skills.
you can consider adding a copy about problem shaking in the second section. It's easier to convince prospects when they're in problem stage.
You can move the video to the second section in the first screensful of the page, on the right of the main headline. The image of the guy doesn'0t communicate any value about your product and it's not relevant.
Here's some copy (Unfortunately I cannot post a link:)
Headline: Captivate and expand your user base with expertly-crafted videos
Subhead: without hiring or negotiating every project one at a time
Bullets in the first screenful:
Just a flat monthly fee: No need to vet and hire freelancers
Fast turnarounds: Get your first video within 3 business days
Quality guaranteed: Unlimited reviews until you’re happy with each video
Problem shaking section:
Section headline: Video production can be a real headache
Body:
You're already juggling between million tasks in your business, and you have no time to create top-notch quality videos.
Hunting down the right freelancer for each project can be like finding a needle in a haystack. You have to review portfolios, haggle over prices, and then go through the whole onboarding process.
For every video, you go back to the negotiation table. And sometimes revisions turn into surprises on the final bill.
You can keep doing that… Or you can click the button below and start getting videos people love. Without the headache of hiring, negotiating, and onboarding.
Wow Simon, I appreciate your feedback and help so very much!
I'm grateful for everything you've provided, every word is a golden nugget. I've already made some changes and am now building a separate "Works" page where I'll show more projects.
Thank you.
Yeah, the "works" page make sense! That's a good idea.
I'd still add more video examples in the main homepage though, so people don't have to "work" too much to find your portfolio, and can get a glance of your work on the homepage already
I've decided not to have a separate page but to have everything in one slider on the homepage, I've added different works so people can understand the various projects they can ask for.
I appreciate your help, Simon. After I've reworked the landing page, it looks much more professional. Especially, the section where's there a bit of copy.
Good stuff! I see you reworked the landing page! Good job.
Just some adjustments:
1st screenful:
2nd screenful:
Maybe it's just me, but this headline doesn't flow really well:
Having us is like having an employee only when you need us
I know what you mean. But it seems a bit convoluted. Maybe it's just me. You can ask for feedback from somebody else too.
I'd go with one of these alternatives:
"Unlimited stellar videos. Only a flat monthly fee."
"Videos that engage and convert. Without the headaches. "
or simply saying:
"Here is how Chili Clips works"
Cheers ✌🏽
Already made the changes. Looks much better.
Thanks again, Simon!
