Hey guys looking for feedback on crowdsourcer.io . I really want to hear first impressions, thoughts, feedback and opinions that you may have. I'd also be interested to see whether or not you lot think the video would be a good fit on there as I have my reservations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHHvJzUGpCM
First thought is that it's ambitious! Second thought, that the scope might be too large at first. Focus on one category and one or two curated projects.
I'm not sure if any of the projects are real, but I'd like to see the faces behind the project. Who's idea it was. Why someone should help out. A video of the person talking about the project and not just some slick video. I think the explainer video could help.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to go through it. Yes it is ambitious, and you're right, I've been trying to hone it down a lot in the short term at least. Yes, all the projects are real.
I like that idea about the faces behind the project. If we gain a little traction I'd like to enforce a video upload as Kickstarter does, but I don't want to turn away projects at this moment. I definitely think they need to be making more of a pitch.
My fears regarding the explainer video is that it's tacky. Did you think that when you saw it?
If I was to join a project, I would want to know who I'm going to work with. Are they good project managers? What have they created before? More transparency about who they are will go a long way to get others onboard. I didn't think the video was tacky.
I completely agree, I've added it to my dev boards. It wouldn't even be that hard to do as we already have bio and skills info, we just need to ensure it's filled and then slap it on the project page. Thanks again for the brilliant feedback, it's so appreciated.
You're welcome!
I love the idea!
I actually had something similar in my head :)))
I see huge potential here. For example, people who just start as programmers, or designers, or someone else, could boost their skills pretty quickly.
I wonder though, how and who manages a project? For example, I as a creator, created a project, added positions, who and how will decide what to do next? Me, or is there a designated PM?
And it's not clear how projects can be sold if they, for example, not mobile apps, but web apps or something else.
It's also not clear from the video (very nice too :) how to invite people to participate in the project.
One more note. I see the progress scale, for example for Atana, but it has only 2 milestones... although the project looks pretty tangible :)
Thanks and good luck! (Maybe I will create a project :)
Hey, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
No designated PM, but other members will gradually unlock project management rights as they contribute more to the project. Until then, the creator will be the only individual with PM rights.
That's entirely down to the project, our platform doesn't stop you from using whatever payment model you like. Perhaps we need to make this clearer. Thank you.
You can do this from the project management center (Mission Control) within the platform.
The scale is relative to contributors, perhaps that's unclear. The idea of it being linked to Milestones is actually a cool idea though. Might motivate creators somewhat too! Will have a think about that.
