Hi Indie Hackers!
I'm thinking about releasing a new product offering for our stock drone platform, but I'm not entirely sure if there is demand or desire for such a product. So I am looking to this awesome community for some feedback!
The idea is to package and sell premium 4K drone banners for website hero sections.
I've thrown together a landing page to give an idea of what I mean: https://blog.vreel.co/drone-website-banner-video/
My main questions are:
My plan is to create a bunch of pre-made banners across a variety of themes and then offer a premium product where users can submit a request/video brief and receive a customised banner. Does that make sense?
Potential further avenue to explore: subscription service where you receive a new video to your inbox each month.
Any advice? Feedback would be hugely appreciated.
Hey Edward! This is great – definitely like the idea of not having to host it, which is often such a pain with things like this.
I'd definitely be interested to see different use cases... I.e. How they can be used for more than hero sections.
@Rufusdenne thanks for the feedback, great to know that hosting video files is a pain point.
I plan to develop a couple of other product offerings around other use cases, one example would be social media videos. Is this the kind of thing you were thinking?
can you send a new video every day? I'd sign up for that! even if it's free gets 1 per week and paid gets 5 per week would be a killer deal. YOu could charge $50 a year for the newsletter. and then link to single videos of higher quality that you sell for $20 a pop for full rights.
And FYI i'm in Indonesia, the vimeo is banned here. so your site doesn't have the videos in it.
With free alternatives (i.e. https://www.pexels.com/videos/), I think you will find this difficult to monetize, at least at that price point.
It's hard for me to imagine paying for that, anyway.
However, if you created it as a "stock footage subscription" type of thing, like http://motionarray.com I'd be more interested.
I don't think so that it is an long run idea and you have to fuel in the money to keep running it . If you increase the use cases as told by Rufusdenne it would be more helpful.
@jtarun4625 thanks for the comment! What would be your ideal use case for drone footage? There's lots of potential, but I'd love to start with something that brings the most value :)
You know that I would, but Im a bit biased ;)
