Would you pay for a Job board that connects indie hackers with marketing experts?

Hi. I've noticed that a lot of indie hackers aren't too confident when it comes to marketing their products once they've built them and most don't even know where to start. I thought up a job board for anyone stuck on marketing to log on, post their project and marketing challenge and find someone else more qualified to handle the marketing for them. I'd like to know if anyone would pay for such a thing or if something like this exists already.

It's good idea but most of indiehackers are in starting phase and self funded. So for majority of us it will be hard to hire a separate marketing specialist to handle marketing.

That's true, I had forgotten the self funded nature of indiehackers. What would you suggest instead?

If your target specifically for indie makers then one thing you can is built marketplace to connect indie makers with marketing expert based on revenue share model.
Many ecom marketing expert already do this with their client. Where they get a percentage for running their ads.

Build a community of marketing specialists. Community support goes a long way.

While this sounds interesting, how do I know I'd be dealing with marketing experts?
Everyone's an expert these days. You've done an internship at company X? I'm sure you'll add Expert somewhere in your linkedin profile.

I've actually searched for a marketing person (not expert) in Romania a while back. I've posted in the best job board (ejobs.ro), got the most expensive ad, and found pretty much crap. There were some people with beyond unreasonable pricing for a startup, and what I ended up hiring (as a contractor) ended up hurting more than helping.

A true marketing expert will probably be beyond expensive, so my take is you'll have a lot of juniors that just say they're "experts", and once again, they can do more bad than good.

So how do you plan to solve that?

I was originally going to go the codemap.io route and vet them (past experiences, example of work done, etc) but that wouldn't have solved the pricing problem, even more so it wouldn't have stopped them from possibly lying. The idea sounded interesting but I'm being shown a bunch of flaws that escaped my attention.

@Ojonimi177 Good idea but … @appmetrix got it right, indiehackers are most of the time self funded. To solve this problem maybe you want an exchange of skills as part of your paid model, both can work together.
Let me explain, some creator are good at building products but suck at marketing as you say, and some are not so good building but are expert on marketing and selling. you can go for a skills exchange, I help you with your marketing you help me with another thing. Now you have to figure out how to monetize it. You have plenty of way to do so. Like creatora with urgency can pay to be on the front of the app page. this is just an idea, you can try to validate it.

As other people have mentioned, IH has a small budget for marketing. And real market experts are already working or taking on projects with high fees. There are too many disadvantages for real market experts to take on IH projects.

Interesting idea. Don't forget the small budget for (most) indie hackers. Hiring a marketing expert consulting me to do an expensive ad campaign wouldn't do me any good.

I would be interested in a marketing "outsourcing" service with reasonable pricing. I think most indie hackers don't want to do any marketing at all if possible.

I had forgotten about the small budget most indie hackers start with. Marketing outsourcing service🤔, not a bad idea, unfortunately I'm not sure the pricing would match, however @bosaonline mentioned community support, maybe a combination of the two?

Yeah, maybe. My concern is that most indie hackers don't "enjoy" marketing, so not sure they would love being part of such a community.
