Would you pay monthly for a search engine if it had no ads and wasn't logging any information about you?
We're considering adding a paid option to our service that would not involve ads that users would pay for monthly. Does anyone have an interest in this?
DuckDuckGo does the same and it's free? I'm not sure people would pay for browsing. It will be very hard to change people's perception because it's been free ever since we started using them.
Maybe, you could some domain search system. For example, a legal or patent SE. If you can make a professional tool, it's easier to charge for it.
I like that idea. We have been working on some more specific tools and that could be a good route for us to take with them.
Thanks for the responses everyone! We are definitely going to keep the free version that includes ads on our site but we may add the option later for people who would rather pay than view ads.
