Would you pay to be featured on a launch site, or only ever go free?

Honest question from someone running one. On IndieNeed, the basic listing is free, and there are small one-time paid options for featured placement.

I go back and forth on whether makers actually want that, or whether paid spots on launch sites just feel like a tax.

If you've launched something:

• Have you ever paid for a featured spot anywhere?
• Did it bring real users or just a few clicks?
• What price would feel fair for a week of visibility?

No wrong answers. I'd rather hear "never paying" than guess.
