Would you post to a video embedding platform?

The platform would basically allow anonymous users to post video embed iframes from other platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

Visitors of my website would then be able to view random videos posted by other users, without having their watch history tracked. Kind of an odd ball website idea.

I have a kind of silly idea, a simple website for people to post embedded videos from YouTube, Vimeo or any other platform. It might be kind of cool to see what kind of random videos people decide to embed.
I am pretty confident I can build a basic implementation of this site quickly using PHP and MYSQL. I am not confident about whether people will actually use it.

YouTube has the best streaming I've experienced in the internet! This is the most important feature that no other platforms like Vimeo or Instagram have.

I like the privacy you bring to the table! But, to be honest, I like YouTube suggestions based on my watch history.
Also, I thought about categorizing videos to explore in a specific field. But, I remembered that Youtube has tags.
My ideal videos on the site would be anything comedy related, but that may be too broad of a niche.
I think it would be better if users could create their own groups and post videos to that group. Personally I don't like YouTubes recommendation algorithm so I would like to see the videos that other people interested in that category watch.
I agree limiting users to only embed a certain type of video would be boring. Is there a video platform or video based subreddit(s) you like better than YouTube?
Currently no. Best content is on YouTube, just a matter of finding it.
Is the idea more around hiding watch history or allowing users to post videos on a website?
If 1) what does it do that incognito can't do? If 2) what does it do that's not already done in forums like reddit for different topics?
The idea is defiantly focused towards allowing users to post unrestricted video embeds to the platform (2). All the users of this new website would be anonymous. Which would allow them to be less restricted than they would under reddit's karma point system.
Oh interesting, so the differentiator is almost a "shock factor". Maybe that's worth creating some incentive around - some rating mechanism that would reward those that made the best use of the unrestricted nature - to make it even more differentiated the more people use it. Though you'd obviously also have to balance that with legal/moral considerations as well
Thank you for your insightful comment. I wasn't really going for a "shock factor", but I guess that's not a bad thing. I would want a rating system that purely reflects if a video is interesting or not. Instead of using "like data" to build advertisement models.
Yeah exactly. You don't want it to be ONLY a popularity contest, because then it's just like every other platform. So it sounds like the finding the right rating system is key here
No, if it's just a clone. Because it wouldn't be unique or better in any way, so why not just using the real thing?
Now, if you make it specialized on something (ie. cat videos only), then you have a way higher chance of success.
Calling it a clone was a mistake and not really accurate. Let me know what you think to the updates, if you have the time.
I think it would work great as a video discovery platform if it's divided into groups/topics and has high-quality submissions.
I was thinking of only allowing comedic videos. It seams like everyone has something that comes to mind when you ask them "Seen any funny videos lately?".
Whether or not they'd think to embed videos on my website is an entirely different story.
