Would you subscribe to emails on specific topics?
Information on https://www.collorem.com is organized by topic. For example, there is https://www.collorem.com/Startups for startups and https://www.collorem.com/No Code for "No Code" resources. These pages hold lists of resources for Books, websites, articles, and videos on each topic, as well as other topics like leadership, management, and bootstrapping.
I'm thinking of adding the ability to subscribe to a topic where you would receive a weekly email that would highlight or show new resources. I'm curious, would anyone would subscribe to an email like that for a specific topic?
The only issue with this for me is inbox overload. While I do subscribe to similar things, they usually get deleted or buried under new messages. Instead, it may be better to SMS or send a notification. That way it is not one more thing in the inbox to be ignored.
Getting notifications via text is an interesting thought. I wonder how many people would opt for that over email. It would be an interesting test to run.
That may not be the solution. Just thinking of ways to get people content outside of the massive dump that is email.
the rub is finding someone to curate each topic. Do take a look at inside.com, unreadit for inspiration. let me know if you need some help. I tried a similar thing
Yeah, I agree that would be pretty tough. I've decided to limit the site to a much smaller set of topics for now. If I can grow it into a community, perhaps one day all of the topics could be self-curated by the community itself. Thanks for the site recommendations, I'll take a look at those!
Interesting concept, I think the question comes down to how well your recommendations are personalized to my reading tastes and can help me improve in the area I'm looking to improve. I tend to base my reading list based on recommendations from certain people I trust, such as Tim Ferriss or other well-read and published authors.
Anyway, long way of saying yes if it is super relevant. It does feel a bit like we are in an email newsletter bubble, so the more you can target a niche and go super deep on a topic, the more likely to stand out. My $0.02.
I started coming up with this idea while I was trying to find different books/podcasts/sites to listen to, but I noticed everyone classified things as "Business". I wanted something more granular, so my hope is that it gets pretty specific as time goes on. I could see it taking a while to get to that level of detail though for some topics. Yes, I would! The one I would want to subscribe to most is the Tech > Software Dev > Web development. I love ❤ web development
