Would you use a free service like this to market your product launch?

We've launched a bunch of features over the year. Some of the launches have been good, others not very good at all.

As a team we've reflected on the launches that went well and taken out the key insights on what made them good.

The short version:

  • You need a good pre promote of the launch to your contacts, like at least a week in advance ( I know this seems like a no brainer but more than once we've started to reach out to people on the day.)
  • You need to create a lot of buzz and excitement on the day, internally and externally. People engage with things that seem to be doing well, so share things like traffic spikes and upvote updates.
  • You need to keep momentum after the launch day. Share the wins, share the learnings, its all really useful to people and also an opportunity to keep the launch front of mind.

It's super easy just to look at a launch as a one day event but in reality, at a minimum, its 2 weeks of focused activity.

One of the things we've realised is that when you are launching a product (on Product Hunt for example) you need a bunch of marketing tools to execute a successful campaign.

  • An email marketing tool to pre promote your launch to your contact list.
  • An in-app messaging tool to pre promote your launch to any existing users.
  • A real-time analytics tool to track and promote your success on the day.
  • A Lead capture tool (forms, etc.) to capture any leads on launch day .
  • Live chat to answer any questions about your product on the day.
  • An email automation tool to nurture leads after the launch.

Like a typically SaaS company, we use our own tool to do this. We had an idea others may want to use this but may not want to sign up to a monthly subscription to use it, so we thought about offering a two week free plan.
No catches, or credit cards, or coupons. Just a straight up free plan.

Before we did all that though, we just wanted to get a feel for if there was an interest, so would love any feedback you had!
