Hi everyone.
I just discovered this community a few weeks ago and im ready to start sharing with you my ideas.
Im about to start a project to monitor our servers with the smartphone, so when we dont have the laptop in our hands we can check if all its correct, and if something goes wrong send alerts to the phone.
I'm also thinking to add an ssh terminal to the app to allow the users to make fast changes.
The main things to monitor would be the cpu load, memory usage and ping from my server to the server of my customers.
What you think about this idea?
For that, I use Munin.
What will be different/better in your app ?
There's plenty of free tools out there
Hi Thomas,
first of all thanks for the anwer.
The main difference between this app and munin would be the way of display the info, and the possibility to start an ssh connection.
I'm my opinion, munin has a complex desing and is way too overload, which makes it difficult to use.
Moreover, munin hasn't got IOS app and there is almost half the market.
I use Nagios and its mobile app. Would like to know what do you plan to offer more than current ones.
I wouldn't as DigitalOcean provides out-of-the-box simple monitoring functionality.
Plus, I wouldn't be interested in constantly checking servers status on the phone. I'd only be interested to be notified when there is high CPU/RAM/HDD usage for some time or server has died, etc. Again, this is built-in in DigitalOcean, but I guess not all server providers has such capabilities, which may be a niche for you?
SSH terminal is a separate app and there are many apps in this niche.
How would you get all the info of the user's server?
Hi Tuhenti,
appreciate your answer.
The user will have to install a service on his server.
This part will be open source, so you can see that we are not stealing data from your server.
