Would you use a toolbox for decision-making?

Neat idea @Joumana! Subscribed!
While I don't use a a framework, for big decisions, I use a decision journal. The rest of the time, I operate with Bezos's 70% rule:
It would be great if the toolbox was interactive. For example, a quiz that narrows down a choice to a framework. Or a meta-framework that combines multiple frameworks into one (for example second-order thinking should be applied to every impactful decision).
Hey @psto, thanks so much. I love the concept of a decision journal. How do you decide what a "big" decision constitutes?
And great ideas on introducing interactivity! I've been thinking about the concept of a meta framework too. e.g. Could there be 4 different pathways to solve all problems? Would be pretty cool if we could simplify a few flexible pathways that could be tailored to different problems.
I distinguish between reversible and irreversible decisions. Most are the former and can be made fast without perfect information. Irreversible decisions require more thought.
For example: trying out a new marketing channel (reversible) vs selling the company (irreversible).
I think there is something there. I'm a fan of cognitive tools. Check out the "Make Better Decisions" tools and mini courses by the ClearerThinking.org team for inspiration.
Good luck, @Joumana!
This is gold! Really love the concept of reversible and irreversible decisions, may even write an article on it :P
Thanks so much for sharing! I had a look and it's great inspo. I really believe that these tools should be easy to access and easy to digest for all!
💯! I'm glad you find it useful. I'm looking forward to your take on reversible and irreversible decisions and cognitive tools!
Hey team! I'm building a toolbox for decision-making.
Would you use it?
What do you think of it as it is?
Any thoughts, questions, critiques about it?
Would love to know what you think!
Hey @je, sorry for taking a day to get back to you. That sounds awesome! I'd be interested in talking more if you have the time. Timing is a funny thing!
Hi Joumana. Let's chat on Telegram (jelnur)
Hey JE, just a heads up that I'll try to reach out to you late this week or early next week. Starting a new program today so it's a bit full on! Hope you had a great weekend.

Hi @Joumana. I'm a solo founder in the US that has done an insane amount of research on decision-making frameworks. I'm tackling a daunting challenge where decision-making is part of a bigger context of complex problem-solving in open, loose networks (think of multiple entities working on an aspect of global warming or regional players working on economic development in their communities as examples).
I'd love to connect if you're up for it. I've always left the door open to partnering with others or just comparing notes.
Hi @omnistratmatt. That sounds like such a fascinating (and daunting) challenge! Would love to chat. This week is looking a little full but would sometime next week potentially suit you?
@Joumana Sorry I haven't responded yet. I have to say I'm a little lost in how IH handles chat conversations and notifications. Seems like you're on your own. Still don't know how to DM community members. Would love to chat with you. I can be reached at mjohnson@omnistrat.com where we can find time to connect.
Hi @omnistratmatt, no stress at all! Thanks for sharing your email. Currently juggling a few projects and deadlines. I'd love to connect but I'd also want to be 100% present in our conversation. Is it okay if I reach out to you in a few weeks time? Sorry for pushing it! Hope you're going well!
Toolbox is very cool. Just subbed!
"Second-order Thinking" was a good one.
Thanks so much. Keen to hear your thoughts as it grows.
What is it about "second-order thinking" that you like? It seems to be a pretty popular one!
I guess it is a popular topic.
There are many things we do in life that seem great at the start and then second order effects kick in.
If we could have predicted them we could minimise the negative ones.
