Would you visit the App Store after looking at my landing page?

I've created a landing page for my app Moodistory a while ago at https://moodistory.com. Now that I'm localizing my app and landing page, I want to make sure that the design is appealing and feels state-of-the-art. The question that it all comes down to is: Would you check out my app on the App Store after you've seen this landing page?

Hey there, after a few seconds, I don't know what the app does.
Some issues I perceive are causing this are

    • The contrast on the page isn't great, too many hard whites and light greys.
    • Having the app name both as header and icon/logo is a little redundant. In the header, rather put focus on what your app actually is and what it does.
    • Overly descriptive text, especially in the "Export to PDF" section, there's too much to read. Most times people will come to your site they want to make a quick decision on whether your app does what they need, and have a dozen other apps offering similar offerings. So try to make it clear what the app does right away.
    • I would replace the "Features" button on the header section with the "Download from the App Store". I personally mostly prefer to see the app in the store, with more screenshots and reviews. So maybe make the way there immediate. Sometimes I'm sold by an app's header and I just want to go to the App Store right away.

    Hope that helps

Thank you for sharing your impression! Yes, that definitely helps. :)
I've probably added too much text because I wanted to optimize it also for search engines. But highest priority has the user's impression. I'll think about the texts again and how I can either make it shorter or add some kind of "more" button for those who like to read more.

Are websites important for mobile apps? Would the time he better spent optimising the app store listing?

Websites are important for mobile apps. It's one channel for marketing. I think it's never either or - you'd need to do both: App Store optimization & web site / SEO.

I am a person who hasn't used a mood tracker before. So you'll need to sell me on the benefits of mood tracking before you can sell me on how you make mood tracking easier. Right now a see a lot of mood tracking features but I don't know why I would want to track my mood.

I would think about who is your target customer and what is their level of knowledge in mood tracking.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that it depends on the target audience. Most users who download my app usually already know what they are looking for roughly. They want to keep a diary or simply keep track of their mood or feelings. That's, I think, the common background of my target customers. Since I also want to approach those who just stumbled upon my website, I will think about adding the benefits of keeping a mood diary. Luckily, I've already written a nice article on my blog, so I can simply reuse or link that. :)

Hi Chris, nice landing, but no, I would not visit the App Store. I don't need an app for managing my mood. I'm not sure how the color themes, pdf reports, years in pixel or mood scale would affect my mood.

Hi Tomek, thanks for your comment! All of that should affect your mood positively and help manage one's wellbeing (e.g. because things probably aren't as bad as one sometimes think). But that is of course no guarantee.

Look wise it’s phenomenal. Not sold by the content though.

It’s a mood tracker with analytics?

Not sure if I need that. Why should people track their mood ?

    1. 1

Thanks for your comment! Most users probably already know that they want a mood tracker when they reach my page. But I also want to convince people who for some reason stumbled upon my landing page. Those questions you're asking should actually be clear after the first 2 pages... Obviously needs to be improved then. Thanks again for your feedback!

I like it! Has a vintage vibe to it!

Just out of curiosity, what percentage of your users install the app via the website?

    1. 1

I just calculated that for the last 90 days. It's a little bit over 1%. I think that can be improved...

      1. 1

        Yah, that's very low :(

        1. 1

But it's a paid app. So every install converts directly into revenue. Still, I think it can be improved.

          1. 1

You're right! I'm working on a solution that can increase app installs via the website. If you're interested, please drop me an email, and I'll let you know when it's available. Here's my contact link: https://contact.do/toni

      Hey Jason,

thank you for your thoughts and the suggestions!
That's what I was aiming for: Even if you're not interested in the topic I want users to check it out on the App Store.
I actually didn't think that there would be too much texts, but looking at the comments, it seems that there is.
Thanks again for your comment - it does help a lot!

Thank's for your impression - interesting questions that you're asking:
Actually I want to know both: Even if you are not interested in a mood tracking app, if for some reason you stumble upon this landing page, I think a perfect landing page could still make you push that "Download on the App Store" badge. - Just to see some more screens and check out the reviews. Not sure if this is realistic but that's what I aim for. Actually downloading the app is then another thing - especially in my case where the app is currently a paid one.
Also, I agree with you that knowing whether the landing page communicates the message I want to, is important as well.

Interesting to see your perspective, I have a quite different one. Maybe take a peek at my reply to the post?
