Betatime is over and we are getting ready to launch some new features and fixe some bugs, but we are still brainstorming on the best "road to revenue". Right now we are adding free value to travelers who wants to haggle better prices and avoid taxi scams. But how to decide on the next step? We do not want to be in competition with Uber and Grab, but we do want do make help travelers ride a bit safer to a fixed price in development contries. Any ideas?
What about looking at affiliate fees with any ride app? I would have checked this when I arrived in the Philippines and noticed Uber didn’t work, then it could have referred me to grab (which I had never heard of before)
I like it. Good idea.
Book your ride here...
Yeah, this could be done this way. You partner with all the cab aggregators and match your app's predicted 'fair price' in that city to all different cab providers in that place. One which is very close to that price at that current time(through API or so) could be pushed as ad with in-app-booking. It could sync really well.
Hi. LOVE the API idea.
Funny thing.
I was just contacted by a CEO from India who is running a big taxi company and wanted to team up... :)
Great sunday....
Was it Ola by any shot? It is the largest here in India.
Hi,
It was not Ola (unfortunately).. :)
Integrate with WhatsApp / WeChat / PayTM etc and enable users to give ratings and tips to drivers. Hold the payment in escrow until the driver responds to the notification that they’ve been given a tip and signs up for the service. Then take a (small) cut of the tip when the user claims it and in the meantime make interest off the float (a la Venmo).
This would have the effect of creating a decentralized reputation system for drivers - encouraging them to provide good service in exchange for tips and reputation. And creates a connection between user and driver so they can optionally contact the driver directly for future rides. Also it would turn drivers into advocates for the service, creating virality and network effects. Maybe reward the drivers with stickers showing their star ratings and a QR code which enables users to quickly tip them via the app.
Hi,
You pretty just called out our roadmap for the next 12 month - AWESOME :)
Thanks 🙏
Awesome! Psyched to see your app develop in the future. As an avid international traveler I’ll definitely be using it on my next trip!
Please do.. And, we will be happy to receive what ever feedback comes our way!
Loved the landing page and the app.
For me, for this kind of app, the more natural way is having a premium version with more features with a one-time payment.
Great idea - thanks :)

Thanks... Lea (our CEO and co-founder is also the UXér and she loooves feedback on design. I would let her know :)
charge for subscription £10 for 3months, £15 6months, £25 12months. give new users one month free
Right now the app is free to download and free to use, but I could see a revenue stream for travelers downloading/purchasing a countries price-list.
I see two possibilities: ads for small local business or a paid app (one-time fee). I like the latter more, but you need to get downloads and reviewa first, then leverage Google SEO producing content and app store ads maybe.
Hi @Luqa,
Thank you for replying.
Yeah, the "simpel" choice would be increasing downloads and asking for a one-time-fee. We are also thinking of integrating with local taxi companies, there is willing to drive "to the normal meter rate" in development countries.

Thanks @xtbhyn 🙏
It is exactly the 3 pains we were hoping to solve.
