So if by audience you mean "Twitter audience", mine is small in the sense that not many care what I'm doing there :D At least at the time I released the book.

But I've a blog for years, and the core of my audience is not on Twitter. It's related to the kind of content I produce. Right now I've 20k+ sessions each month and it's where the buyers come from.

When I've launched the book I've had 600+ subscribers on my newsletter, half of them bought it. This is the kind of audience you want. That plus successful (and calculated) launch brought me to 300 buyers in a month.

So I would say: the size doesn't really matter, what matters is how much the people who follow you like what you're doing and are ready to pay for your product.

You can write articles around your book's topics, and put them in your book afterward. It's what I did and it works well.
