Hi, I will soon be launching a product listing platform, in short, for those people who are soon to launch their products to list them on the platform and promote them and get reviews and upvotes.
It seems that all the .com domains are really taken and at very high prices and the names I had in mind are already taken and only available in .xyz, .tech, .online, .website.
What domain extension do you recommend?
Do you think that the extension I choose is the same, is indifferent?
Postdate: Honestly I'm already tired of searching hahaha, my mind is going to explode. I think I've spent more hours thinking about a name and searching for available domains than the time I've spent developing the site.
The exact prompt that creates a clear, convincing sales deck
Post-launch lesson: traffic came, activation didn’t
For indie hackers: Outsource marketing or do it yourself?
I Stopped Browsing Reddit Randomly. Here's the Keyword Monitoring System That Actually Gets Me Customers.
My main product is on a .xyz domain and I'd still recommend shying away from it as well as all of the other extensions listed above.
.com, .co, .io, .app, .so all seem to be better right now.
My friends, I have bought the .xyz domain. I have been testing and certainly as my friend said here in the comments the emails go to spam, absolutely everything. If someone has a way to solve this, I would be grateful.
For the moment I will use this .xyz domain extension for the demo website I am making and I will change or buy another domain for the launch.
Here I leave the demo website for you to take a look and interact with it:
https://uproduct.xyz/
Thank you all for your help and I just want to wish you a great and beautiful Merry Christmas to you and your family. And I look forward to seeing your products listed next year.

Email hates the .xyz extension (as well as the others). They look spammy.
I send the newsletter from a different domain now because of it to keep deliverability up and to make sure I'm hitting the primary inbox.
Main site = https://www.workspaces.xyz/
Email domain = readworkspaces.com

Apparently .com is best for SEO.
That's interesting. This graph is visits though and not SEO ranking. Although random type-in traffic to the .com could give a minor raise in visits, Google specifically says that domain extensions do not matter to ranking (except for some CCTLDs). Visits can increase by paid campaigns, a viral post, anything. I already see the traffic increasing prior to the change, so would not necessarily attribute this to a change in domain extension. If you drill down, they had a post go viral on ycombinator near that day (17k views Oct 15) which may be a contributing factor to the bump (Google ranks you higher when you get more legit traffic, and your higher ranking will get you more traffic, and it snowballs) - Dave (SEO intermediate) https://simpleanalytics.com/remoteok.com?start=2020-12-21&end=2021-12-20&interval=day&referral=news.ycombinator.com
I’d stick with .com, .co, .io (saas) or .ai (AI products)
Even if you have to get somewhat creative with the name it’ll make it easier for users to remember
.xyz is really popular in tech and shorter/easier to remember b/c it's so short/different. otherwise ppl may be trying to remember whether you went with tech, online, or website :P https://techcrunch.com/2021/12/28/wtf-is-xyz/ -Dave

Thanks for the recommendation.
.xyz
I have plenty of domains with .xyz.
Also, it's cheaper especially for first 1 year.
Cheaper for renewals too. Like $10-$14 a year.
And once your product/service does well you can always try for .com
When I couldn't get the .com domain I wanted, I choose online. https://chillin.online. It might look a little bit more symmetrical😂
use .com. Don't overthink ask chatgpt to suggest the name.
Oh my friend, thanks for the Chatgpt recommendation, I really hadn't thought about it and it sure would have given me some good recommendations with how powerful that IA is.
For now I must say that I have bought a domain with .xyz extension, but I will use it only as a demo, or at least I hope so.

I hope to see your product listed when it is ready in January next year. Thanks again for the recommendation and have a Merry Christmas.
merry christmas to you as well
.com is good for SEO optimization
.tech
Go for .com even if your product is not available. I recently registered embed-blog.com because I thought it's one of the best way to improve SEO I know that I can always grab embedblog.com when I have profit.
The one that works. Dont waste too much time on deciding which domain to choose. Work on your idea and try to make money out of it ( validation). Once you have a solid product there would be always chance to rebrand.
P.S. I prefer .com if i can find one.
In general, a .com domain is typically seen as more trustworthy and established in the eyes of users.
I don't trust any of those domains. They look like a joke. Any website is a tech thing that is online. It's stating the obvious.

Parent company is 'Alphabet' so in a way it makes sense :)
Google use xyz because Alphabet.com is owned by BMW.
If you are going to list digital products then .tech might be good. But you can also find other extensions such as .io could be good if it is available.
.tech.
Maybe try .app?
Hi Daniel, thanks for the recommendation. Hahahaha however I have bought a domain with the extension .xyz I must admit that I got a little carried away by the recommendations here and now it is giving me problems with spam emails and other things that I think are due to the domain extension hahahaha.
