Yay or Nay? Mobile App Game Builder

I have a half finished mobile app that allows you to build, browse, play, duplicate and modify/remix a mobile game for your phone. I’m thinking about picking it back up to complete it.

Anyone else doing/tried something similar?
Is a mobile app that allows you to create a game by mixing/matching pieces of other games useful to any other game devs in the community?

Any/all comments welcome.

I would be interested in knowing more about your project. Did you complete it?

I am attempting a similar project with http://flappybird.studio
It's fully functional. Not sure if the market wants such a game/product. Would love your comments on flappybird studio.

Is it worth spending time on such projects?

I haven’t completed it yet, but started working on it again a few months ago. I’ll keep you posted on my progress, and I may even add it to my list of projects here on IH.

I like how your site allows a user to quickly generate a clone. Can you run the game in the browser? If so, I recommend doing that. I generated a code and saw I had to download the app, which made me think twice about trying it out.

I don’t know if the market wants/needs something like we’re building. For a short while I had a landing page with few questions about making a game. In a few weeks I got about 400 email subscriptions, so I was intrigued to keep trying. I know a lot of people tell me, “I have a great idea for a game..” So I think people want to create games but need to right tools to help them.

I am also bullish on games that are similar to the concept of e-greetings where you can update some content and share it with others.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted the game to be similar in the way the original game was played.

Yea, I'm hopeful that there is a market. The challenge is that these is more a B2C than a B2B ideas which makes finding customers/players difficult to keep the apps sustainable.
