Hey y'all, how do you know if you're at a good point to do YC Startup School?
I have a live product and a few customers, but tbh, we use the product on their behalf and it is still my side hustle. My co-founder is effectively full time at this point, but we're not terribly close to making enough for us both to be.
Can you think of any similar stage companies which had success? any for which it was probably too early?

I just graduated from the 2019 Startup School and have to say I was very impressed with how it's evolved. They give you so many tools and lectures to keep you going and really seem to want to help you figure your startup out. Plus you meet so many other founders online. Of course its their feeder to the real YC application - which I also did - so it must work :)
If you're interested I came up with and launched trustfuss.com during the 10 week program. It's a warranty analysis and review site. The goal is to help people navigate warranties before they buy something and figure out how to use them successfully afterwards.
So I took the advice of @futhey and applied. I was surprised Startupschool gave me a instant answer after completing the questions that I was accepted. Thought I would share.
They are also pivoting to cater to the large influx of early-stage startup founders after last batch– should be much more relevant to the indie hackers community (with more content on building / launching vs. the traditional YC syllabus weighted toward raising and scaling).
Oh that's good to know as in my batch I thought it was just bad advice to startups that don't want to be a unicorn. So are you thinking of applying? I personally am reluctant to apply again as I thought I learned enough from the first go round but maybe I'm wrong ;)
I did startup school both years offered. Built a business, and got to a comfortable amount of revenue to do it full-time. Did a YC interview, and talked to a few YC partners afterwards. Helped me see that there's a path that's better for me that's not VC-backed / hypergrowth.
Startup school still seems like a good deal for someone who doesn't want to be a unicorn. Free stuff + quality content + community. From what I can tell, most participants are early-stage / pre-launch and spend startup school building to their launch.
Would recommend applying. You can always change your mind and leave.

I was in last year's one and it was very useful. Highly recommend it.
