Yet another code snippet store
There are quite a few apps and websites that lets to save code snippets online and refer back to it later. But most are clunky, slow and not well integrated. Is there room for another player in this space? If you feel the same, what features would you love to see.
I think a lot of people will save code snippets in their code editor such as Vs code or atom. I know that's what I do. I think the more modern way to do a traditional code snippet platform is something like https://bit.dev/
I used to use Bear to keep my code snippets, it was fast (really really fast) and had syntax highlighting. Recently, I made a switch to Notion (needed some stuff that Bear didn't want to offer) and also moved my code snippets to Notion. It's not as fast as Bear but it's not slow neither so I'm happy with the migration.
Would I use a dedicated tool for code snippets? tbh, no! Mainly because the current tools don't offer anything crazy interesting. I'm happy to have my code snippets next to all of the other notes I have.
I think there's always room if what you are building solves a problem in a new way. For code snippets, I'm very happy with TextExpander. It's surprisingly well integrated to how I work.
Are you referring to websites like CodePen and Codeply?
I am also curious, at first I thought the OP was talking about something like this bytehub.dev.
