Hello everyone! My name is Paul, I am the founder of a company called Yoke, who's mission is for you to find people to train with, anytime, anywhere. You can find more information on my landing page here; https://yoke-app.netlify.com
I am kindly requesting some feedback on the idea and I would like to know what you think. Is this a viable product? Is is something you see yourself using? What are some features you would like to see? How bad is this idea and what can be done to improve it?
I would appreciate your time and honesty on this idea. Thank you and have a nice day!
Also - please do share this post if you like the idea :)
Love this idea, as I've needed it in the past. This seems similar to a dating app IMO. You need to find people with similar interests, near a specific location. In other words, I'd expect a profile, search feature, and messaging. But please don't make people pay for messaging or other silly things these dating sites do to make money off people. I'm sure there is a way to monetize the site, without ruining the user experience.
Ideally, you could find someone at your gym of course. If you found someone near by, but not at your gym, it'd mean one of you would need to change presumably? I'd be curious to know if people would be open to virtual training partners or motivational coach?
Your landing page is nice. The headline and opening paragraph are great. On the registration form, I'd suggest removing the first name/last name fields. You need a lot of people to sign up to seed your system, so the more email addresses you can capture, the better.
Thank you for your feedback! Yes, our app will resemble most dating apps where you can create a profile, send 'friend requests' to people you've matched with to do a particular sport, and a chat functionality. I reckon those will be basic features so users can experience our platform, and we plan on having premium features which can be a way to monetise the app.
With regards to the gym, I was thinking if the person you've matched hasn't signed up to your gym, they could perhaps sign up for a trial period. I am not too sure of the logistics of this; for the time being, we will focus on outdoor activities such as running or cycling, or other activities that can be done in shared space such as yoga. Integration with gyms will be on the pipeline of future features.
Thanks for your thoughts on the landing page! I've updated it so you should be able to sign up with just an email address.
I like your sign up page. Very clean and to the point.
As an aside- do you know in western culture, the term "yoke" refers to a wooden crosspiece that was fastened over the necks of animals so that they can pull a plow/cart. In ancient warfare - to force a defeated enemy to walk under the yoke (a symbolic punishment some considered worse then death) was the ultimate form of humiliation for the victor to inflict on the defeated enemy as a sign of submission and compliance.
Thank you!
Wow! I didn't even know this piece of history. Noted!
