Once you are an authority in your subject (which may take much shorter than you think!) people start asking questions. When people ask heart to heart questions you gain great insight into what they need/want, solve those issues and you got yourself some income.

After sharing my story of leaving Portugal, getting a job at trivago, having a bad breakup, some unemployment, living in a van, contracting and making $15,000 per month, etc. I got an email literally within hours of creating my website (https://www.emigra.pt (in Portuguese)) telling me that he found it inspiring, he comes from the same place I grew up in, etc, and with questions about both leaving Portugal, future of his career, etc.

It was great feedback to receive :)
