You are talking to the wrong people at the wrong time

Most founders are doing the work

Posting

DMing

Trying every channel

And still nothing moves

That’s the frustrating part

It feels like effort should equal results

But it doesn’t

Because the problem is not effort

It’s timing

You’re talking to people who:

Don’t need it right now

Might need it later

Or are just curious

So every conversation feels forced

Meanwhile somewhere else:

Someone is actively looking for your solution

They’re asking

They’re searching

They’re frustrated

And you’re not there

That gap is where most startups lose

Not because the product is bad

But because they missed the moment

When you talk to someone who already needs help

You don’t have to convince

You just have to show up

No chasing

No over explaining

No friction

Just alignment

The shift is simple:

Stop asking “how do I get users”

Start asking “where are people already trying to solve this”

Everything changes when you find that

That’s what I’m building with LeadSynth: https://www.leadsynthai.app/

It surfaces real conversations where people already have the problem so you show up at the right time

If nothing is working right now

Don’t push harder

Fix the timing

Makes sense. I’ve noticed the same- even a solid message gets ignored if the timing is off. Feels like the real difference is when you reference something very specific vs just saying “I saw you’re hiring”. Have you seen that too?

    1. 2

      You’re spot on.

Generic outreach gets ignored because it feels like a template. The moment you reference something specific they said or did, the whole dynamic changes.

It signals timing + relevance, not just “I’m pitching you.”

That’s usually the difference between being ignored and getting a reply.

      1. 2

the delay is the real problem. by the time pain surfaces in your CRM it has been rationalized away. mid-flinch is the only real window.

        1. 1

t’s like a very small window where the problem is real but not rationalized yet miss it and you’re back to zero

      2. 1

that’s the tricky part -most signals show up too late by the time it’s visible in data, the “buying moment” is already gone

  2. 1

The “silence framing is painfully accurate. A lot of early products don’t fail because the builder can’t ship — they fail because the founder never gets a clean signal from the right person.

What I like here is that you’re treating lead discovery as context + timing, not just a bigger scraped list. The scoring/context part feels like the difference between outreach that sounds human and outreach that gets ignored.

    1. 1

'never gets a clean signal from the right person' is exactly it. and i'd push it further, the signal is usually there, founders just see it too late or read it as noise. context + timing is the whole bet: a scraped list tells you who exists, it can't tell you who's mid-problem right now. and you nailed why the scoring matters, it's really there to protect the human part, reply to the wrong person and the only way to not sound like a bot is to fake it, the right person at the right moment lets you just be straight. what are you building?

The retry-loop cost trap is real — agent reflection + retries quietly 5x your bill. Two fixes that help most: route simple/early steps to a cheaper model (Haiku / 4o-mini) and cache

the repeated system prompt. Usually 40–60% off mixed workloads.

I do LLM cost audits for startups (built it into my own 90+ agent stack). Happy to look at anyone's setup free for 30 min — just say the word.

  4. 1

Yep, I felt this lol. I've been cold emailing UK plumbers and salons and EVERYWHERE - opens are solid (42%), but signups are painfully slow. I'm starting to wonder if email is just the wrong 'time' entirely for non-tech business owners. Where have you seen those real-time 'already looking' signals for B2B tools? Is it search intent, social mentions, or something else?

Right now I think my leads are needing, not looking.

    1. 1

Yeah that’s a good way to put it — “needing, not looking.”

Email can work, but it’s tough when there’s no active intent. You’re basically trying to create the moment instead of stepping into it.

For B2B we’ve seen strong signals in:

      • Search queries (“how do I…”)

      • Reddit/forums

      • Even comments on niche communities

Anywhere people are actively trying to solve something.

That’s what we’re trying to surface with LeadSynth — those “already looking” moments.

      1. 1

That is a great way to frame it - 'creating the moment instead of stepping into it'. I have started laying Reddit and Quora to catch those 'already looking signals'. Slow burn but it feels more sustainable.

Bump up the free trial to 30 days and I'll give it a shot!

Not trying to free load by any means, but I'm busy. 7 days feels like 7 hours.

If I set it up on Friday, I'll have 2 days left.

    Just honest feedback!

    1. 1

That sounds fair, yeah we could extend the duration, I think 30 is a bit too long maybe 14 days.

Let me know once you signed up.

This hit. Especially the timing part. You can be doing everything right and still be talking to the wrong room at the wrong moment. The effort is real — the alignment just isn't there yet.

    1. 1

Yep exactly talking to the wrong person is like talking to a wall, it's not like they ever needed what you're offering. Thats the philosophy behind what we do at leadsynthai, talk to the right people at the right time.

  7. 1

Timing is underrated. We spent weeks optimizing our messaging before realizing the message wasn't the problem we were just talking to people who weren't ready yet.

The moment we shifted focus to people already frustrated with their current solution, everything got easier. No convincing, no objections. Just "yes, when can we start"

    1. 1

Exactly, talking to the right audience at the right time is how you close more deals and grow that's the exact backbone of leadsynthai would appreciate your input on it.

  8. 1

This hits hard — especially the “missed the moment” part.

I’ve noticed the same: when someone already has the problem, the conversation is effortless. Anywhere else, it feels like pushing uphill.

Timing > effort is such an underrated shift.

Also experimenting with something similar on the “right moment” side —
you have an idea, $19 puts it in real competition. Winner gets a Tokyo trip (flights + hotel, $500 min guaranteed).

THis is truly a game changer and a real pain point to address for a lot of founders/startups in need to have meaningfull conversations.

    1. 1

Thank you, would be great to see BrandKit grow by using LeadSynth and see how that goes.

  10. 1

This hit differently because I'm living this exact problem right now.

I've been reaching out to people in my network about my platform and getting polite silence. And reading this I realised — they're just not in that moment. They're not frustrated about mentorship right now. They don't have an active problem I'm interrupting.

The people I need to find are the ones mid-frustration. The engineering grad who just started a job and feels completely lost. The career changer who's been applying for 3 months and getting nowhere. They're out there asking questions on Reddit or Quora right now — I'm just not there.

Simple reframe but genuinely useful. Bookmarking this one.

Will check out LeadSynth — curious how it surfaces those conversations at scale.

    1. 1

Well we essentially understand your offering and find people online discussing the problems your product can solve in real time and get you in touch with them.

  11. 1

My product is around helping businesses improve their Google reviews which is something almost every business cares about, but not all are actively trying to improve.

I think that’s why a lot of my cold emails are getting ignored. I’ve been targeting relevance, but not intent.

I’m starting to realise I need to focus more on businesses already looking to make a change, rather than just those who could benefit (as this is the majority).

    1. 2

Exactly, I can help you setup a pipeline on LeadSynth to help find customers for your product.

Feel free to contact me at: abdelrahman@leadsynthai.app

      1. 1

Appreciate the offer Abdelrahman. I am focused on the current pipeline right now but I will keep LeadSynth in mind if I need to scale.

        Thanks for reaching out.

  12. 1

timing is the underrated variable here. same pitch, totally different outcomes - depends on whether they're mid-crisis or just browsing. built PM tools - the ones who converted were already burning, not just curious.

    1. 1

Exactly, catching pain in real time is gold

    This reframe is powerful.

I'm building JewelViz an AI tool that helps Indian jewellers create professional jewelry photos without expensive photoshoots.

My problem: I kept asking "how do I get users?" But this post made me realize the real question is — where are Indian jewellers already frustrated with photoshoot costs RIGHT NOW?

Answer: They're searching "jewelry photographer near me" on Google. They're posting in Facebook jewellery groups asking for cheap photographers.

That's exactly where I need to show up — not randomly DMing people, but finding the ones already feeling this pain.

Thanks for the clarity. This changes my approach completely.

    1. 2

No problem, feel free to get started on LeadSynth and start getting customers for JewelViz, feel free to contact me at : abdelrahman@leadsynthai.app

Thank you so much Abdelrahman! Really appreciate the offer.

I'm currently pre-revenue with zero budget. Would love to try LeadSynth for JewelViz — is there any free trial or early-stage founder deal available?

My target customers are small Indian jewellers who are actively looking for affordable photography solutions

  14. 1

That will be useful, thank you.

      No problem, thank you!
