You just need 1 Customer

Garry Tan, ex-YC partner and investor, gives some great wisdom.

He says one of the most important traits for a founder is grit in iteration. Some quotes:

If there is 1 person out there in the world, who would be happy, that [your product] exists – then you did the right thing.

If you've been putting out software that you're not embarrassed about, you've waited too long probably.

If you can get 1-2 people to love [your product], that's the kernel to grow to something bigger.

Very insightful interview, check it out.

  1. 2

One customer - while not a long-term, sustainable model - I just got our first, definitive, non-family or friend fan of our software. Came with a wonderful testimonial.

So much of growing a startup is a headgame- and I'll attest that I am still riding high on that first truly happy customer.
