Hey! I’m working on a SaaS AI video editing tool for content creators and small business owners— I'm still in the very early stages, but I’ve already validated demand with my audience (I’m a travel content creator with 20K+ followers). I am looking for a tech co founder, but I'm guessing you are offering your paid services? Am I correct? If you are at all interested in a co- Founder partnership feel free to reach out

Fellow dev here. I'd assume like me that you target a specific type of client? If so, how do you handle situations where you find a potential client isn't in your target market (wrong project size, tech requirements that don't fit your skills, etc.)?
I've run into that situation sometimes but never had a good answer for them. Curious if you've developed a network of other devs you refer people to - so far when I run into that situation I've only been able to give generic suggestions on how to look for devs, and that's disappointing to everyone.
Before moving forward with any client or project, it's essential to clearly understand both the company's standards and your own expectations. Evaluate whether the project aligns with your skills, capacity, and interests. If it doesn't, there's no obligation to proceed—it's your decision to make.
In situations where a potential client falls outside your target market, it's helpful to have a trusted network of other developers or agencies you can recommend. This not only supports the client but also strengthens your professional relationships within the industry. Taking this proactive approach ensures you maintain your credibility while helping the client find the right fit for their needs.
Definitely - I've been successful at quickly figuring out if a client and I are aligned. It's building a network of trusted developers that I've struggled with. Have you found a good strategy for doing that? Ideally they'd be people I have reliable knowledge of how they work with clients and the quality of the product they produce, but I've not figured out how to do that.
that’s such an important skill. Building a network of trusted developers can indeed be challenging, especially when you’re looking for those who align with your values and deliver high-quality work consistently.
One strategy that has worked for me is tapping into personal recommendations from colleagues or industry peers whose judgment I trust. Attending networking events or joining online communities (such as LinkedIn groups, Slack channels, or industry-specific forums) can also be valuable for discovering talent and observing how others engage with the community.
Additionally, starting with small collaboration projects or trial tasks can help gauge their work style and compatibility without committing to larger engagements right away.
Thanks for the feedback. Definitely sounds like a good strategy that I'll need to work on. Doing smaller collabs and trial tasks with other devs has been difficult for me, as I'd prefer to either have my team handle the whole project or redirect to a team who can vs. trying to act as a middleman or make the client work with multiple people.
