You Should Get a Newsletter

In the not too distant past, people used RSS to keep up with others. The new version of that will be Newsletters.

I never read newsletters. Never have time for that. If I wanted to keep abreast of something I would put a web alert. But now, if I want to learn something I ask gpt4.

.. people used RSS to keep up with others. ... new version of that will be Newsletters.

What is your evidence to proclaim newsletters will replace RSS?
Both seem to be replaced by gpt4
Why would I want to interact with flat text when I can have generative text / dialogue interface using gpt4?

    to keep up with 'others'

'others' seems wrong. Do you mean with content, apps?
Most use social media to keep up with 'others'. Or a messaging /chat service.
My friends, folks would find it very 'entertaining' if I created a newsletter to send them about stuff going on fm. They would ask, why so formal? I can see all that on your posts or from your last IM.

Thanks for taking the time to read this <3

      • In this post I'm not advocating for newsletter as a tool for learning, so no need to compare to GPT. GPT won't help me learn what is going on in your life if we become friends.

      • I'm not saying that newsletter will replace RSS, just that it will become popular. RSS was a way to get notified when someone published a new post or changed their website. Well, newsletters are very similar in that sense, but you don'r even need an RSS reader, just your email app. So, I don't have evidence, this is just a statement.

      • This post was just to suggest that in the see of content that there is out there, and which will increase drastically due to generative tools like GPT-4 it will be easy to miss something from people you are interested in.

      why so formal?

      • the beauty is that this is your newsletter, you can be whatever you want, go as formal as you want or as chill as you want.

I can see all that on your posts and from you last IM

      • Imagine you have 100 people you care about online. Will you be checking each one of them to see if you have missed something? Or would you rather get notified when they do something.

I see, it is relating to others -- how interesting. Sorry does not inspire me at all. Thankyou for offering a definitely different perspective. That is what I love about IH.
