I'm looking to get mobile with my development.

What would be your favorite laptop and why? What should I be looking for in a development laptop?

I wished this post picked a bit of momentum, I'm in the market for a secondary laptop under 1000$ myself (more in the 500-600$ range). My main laptop is a Dell XPS 13 (2020 edition, it doesn't quite meet the "under 1000$" criteria) running Fedora, it works great, is really tiny and light for a 13" screen, and has pretty much everything I want except... a mediocre battery life. I blogged about it here: https://mna.dev/posts/linux-on-the-dell-xps-13-2020.html, but it turns out the battery is worse than I thought when I wrote this, I can get maybe 5 hours of actual work, I'd want at least 7, ideally 10.

I'd like a cheaper, used second laptop that works equally great with Linux but with a much better battery life, for when that pandemy thing is over (fingers crossed) and I can go back to working away from home in coffee shops and public libraries. I know everyone says "Thinkpad X/T/Wsomething" in this situation, but I'm not sure the battery's that much better? I wouldn't mind a heavier laptop with a larger screen if that meant better battery, though an excellent trackpad is also a must.

FYI this are the leaders for me:

Its an IPS screen. RAM slot is maxed out at 1 slot with 2400 mhz...

Battery life is insane here. Again, lacking on the specs, but if I focus on resource management...

Thanks! I've never had an LG laptop (nor desktop for that matter) before, will definitely check that out, seems like an interesting option.
