So a few weeks ago I launched a rapid prototype of my idea here on IH. No landing page or anything to explain what's happening.
After gathering feedback from the community, I implemented most of the ideas into a landing page and relaunched it on Product Hunt,https://www.producthunt.com/posts/aircart ,
I ended up getting over 1000 visits to my site from the launch.
Only about 30 converted, I am still trying to improve the experience but if anyone can point out any 'obvious' things I might have missed that might improve the site, I will appreciate the feedback
the site is https://aircart.app
It is a simple way to sell digital products using only your paypal
Aside from two things about the early website (no color, video has no image placeholder until you run it) I don't think your conversion rate is bad - 1,000 people and 30 of them had something to sell and also didn't have some quick and dead simple way to sell it. So your baseline was a 3% conversion rate. I think that it's a good idea because once someone sets their product up to be sold they will probably tend to leave it set up this way rather than pull it down from your service. You turn delivery into a super-fast check box on someone's to-do list.
Your USP/tagline should be "Aircart is the fastest way to sell on the internet" - All your marketing should be about ease and speed and simplicity.
The real ah-ha moment will come IF the purchase experience is flawless from the buyer's perspective AND the seller knows it.
To get to that moment your website or video has to tell a complete story that shows the whole life cycle - all you show is how to add an item for sale
consider adding this:
After you show how quickly the product is uploaded and ready to sell - show some link or whatever that the seller gets in his email, show them dropping it on a website or in a post or wherever it might go.
Show a buyer clicking on it, what they see, how they go through a purchase, what email they get, how they get the download
then show how the seller gets notified, show how he can see his sales, how he gets paid, etc.
Basically, close the entire loop - if the seller likes the whole loop you win.
have some verbiage about confirmation emails, handling a return or a problem, the seller's dashboard (if you have one). Basically how to reverse a sale.
You want to have the loop in the video and also spelled out in text in a very condensed manner because you can't force anyone to watch the video.
Thank you for the in detail feedback, this is very useful, we'll definitely put your advice to good use
