You're asking the wrong questions

(Hopefully serves as an important reminder of what questions we should be asking)

This evening, I was hoping to do a bit of research past my own experiences on the topic of:

"What are the most difficult parts of managing a design or development team or project for the first time?"

So, I searched "project management" in the site's search function, selected the discussions filter, and I was a bit annoyed to see so many, and I mean at least 90%, posts about things like:

"Validate this tool I built..."
"What's the best project management tool for..."
"What do you guys use for..."

I've been a member for about 2 years (I think), but I haven't been very active. I've built my freelancing business to about $120K/year following the same principles and practices that many of the founders Courtland interviews on the podcast. Since the podcasts are probably the best content IH has to offer (It's ridiculous how much there is to learn in a SINGLE podcast), I was almost angry to find the discussions above, because:

Building a business or a product is ALL about understanding who and why you're building it. As someone who has only built one successful business, I would still guarantee you cannot be successful without nailing those two points.
I got this strong sense that the discussions were asking for the answers not how can I get myself to an answer. For example, if you're looking for people to validate something you've built, you've already gone about it the wrong way. You should first understand a persona of a potential customer, what they struggle with, verify it, and then build your product.
Although my search was broad, there were about 11X discussions available and I scrolled through ALL of them and found maybe 2-3 that were actually on the lines of "tell me about your experiences using X or Y" or "has anyone been in this situation and how did you get yourself out of it."

I'm well aware I searched just one tiny fraction of the discussions on the platform and a lot of those posts are just people asking innocent questions, I hope this post reminds some of you what the important questions to ask are and what questions are unfulfilling and in the wrong direction.
