Youtuber w/ 4.9m subscribers banned 😱

The best part of email marketing is not the 42X ROI.

... though that's certainly a big selling point.

The best part (and most who aren't doing email marketing aren't aware) — is that you OWN your audience 💪

You always have access to your database of subscribers — in the form of a csv file. You can take this with you no matter which email tool you use.

Compare this to only relying on Twitter / FB / IG / YT or SEO to get traffic.

Social media companies and Google own the traffic they "give you".

If they can give it to you, they can always take it away from you anytime they want.

You don't own the traffic. They do.

At any time, your account could get banned and you could lose all your audience overnight.

I'll give 2 real examples:

1/ Coffeezila’s YouTube channel exposes fake online gurus and scammers so you don’t fall prey to them.

His channel was temporarily wiped out overnight (his subscriber count was 300k+ when that happened) 😱

2/ Another popular channel LeafyIsHere with 4.9 million subscribers is permanently banned too 😱😱

Plus, with email you'll have deeper, more personal, and more meaningful conversations with your target audience... which ultimately lead to more sales.

Stop relying only on social media or SEO.

Are you using email marketing to "capture" your own database of target audience or are you surrendering your fate to the big corporations? What's stopping you from building your own email list and fostering a relationship with your fans?

alwaysownyourplatform.com is a favorite of mine. Substack creator got banned last week for promoting offers in her newsletter (apparently you aren't allowed to do that on Substack?)

Yeah it's pretty shocking. Word has it that substack wasn't getting a cut of the affiliate income and closed the account.

I'm not saying no need or stop social media. It's still a great way to funnel traffic to your own property (site, email list).

I'm suggesting start building your own list/audience that you have control of.

You could do paid ads and SEO too.
