Zapier alternative for Free!

I'm building an alternative for Zapier called Do10X:

https://github.com/dotenx/dotenx

The service will be launched with limited integrations in a few days. If you're interested to be among the early users please let me know here so I can give you free access.

It'd be great specially if you have experience using Zapier or its alternatives. Also during this stage if there is any particular integration/automation you like to see in the application we can discuss and include it in the upcoming releases.

First of all, good luck! You are entering a crowded market with strong players. I think the easiest wins are in niche categories. For example non of the automation tools (even zapier) doesn't offer quality Notion automation scenarios and use cases at the moment.

Since Notion is somehow in the center of your target community, detailed and fine-tuned Notion Automation and Integration would be a good value proposition and differentiator for you.

Thanks for your support. Yup, there are quite a few players but I think that's a good sign.

You mentioned Notion and what you said makes a lot of sense. I think Notion and Airtable are key integrations and perhaps there is more room to improve on Notion integrations.

You might want to check 10x for trade marks . It’s a popular term from Grant Cardone. A real estate mogul

    1. 1

Thanks for the heads up, it's a bit unlikely to face much issues as it's a very generic term.

  3. 2

    How will you make money?

    1. 1

Good question. By providing it as a service.
If you want it for free, you can host it yourself and if you don't want any of that headache, you can use the cloud version.

      1. 1

but if you are providing it as a service how are you going to compete with zappier?

        1. 1

Well, pricing and flexibility are two areas we can certainly compete with Zapier.

          1. 2

            makes sense.

    ✋ interested

Awesome, will DM you in a few days.

I have Stared it on github, interestring, may I know how do you have the knowledge to build it, I mean, I even don't understand how to build automation thing, you are amazing

    1. 1

Appreciate your support and kind words, I'd say the integrations is not the most challenging part and the automation engine was/is the most challenging part.

Soon we'll add an in-details documentation helping people to contribute to the repository if they like.

I've been saying for years there needs to be an open source or self hosted zapier. Companies should be able to build their own integrations too. Nice to see this!

    1. 1

Absolutely, you perfectly mentioned the major flaw.

  7. 2

Congrats on the (upcoming) launch. Quick question. Do you plan on open-sourcing the integrations & authentications or will the open sourcing be limited to the runners that run these integrations?

    1. 1

At this stage everything we add will be code-available however, this can change soon and in favour of the community (let's keep it as a surprise for the next few weeks)

Hey Moshen! happy to be an early user, feel free to DM me.
I agree that it's a crowded market so it makes sense to niche down. Alternatively, you could also offer a service to allow users to switch vendors. Right now, platforms lock in users by making the tradeoff between saving a few hundred bucks by changing vendors and having to re-do all your workflow automation pipelines high. I think there's a big opportunity in allowing users to easily move to cheaper alternatives without having to re-do all the work.

    1. 1

Hey, awesome, will DM you in a few days.

Can you please elaborate a bit on what you mean exactly by "allowing users to easily move to cheaper alternatives without having to re-do all the work"?

You mean I add the option to help people easily migrate their existing automations to DoTenX for example?

      1. 2

Sure, it could be a cool feature to have in dotenx to help conversion. But what I meant was having that alone as a service.
For instance, I'm a heavy Zapier user (200,000+ task per month) and I know that there are cheaper alternatives out there that have the same integrations I use in Zapier. However, the cost to switch platforms for me means having to re-do and test 60+ zaps, which in manhours outweighs the hundreds of monthly dollars I could save.
If I could use a service to make that switch without having to worry about testing I would do it without thinking twice. (and I'm sure the platform to which I'm switching would be happy to pay a big referral fee)

        1. 1

          Ah got you.
That's a very valid concern actually, and it's a great idea. It'll definitely be something to focus on in the near future at least for DoTenX.

Hi, I have just launched automation.re comparing 25 automation tools and their integrations with 2500 SaaS.

I'm currently speaking with iPaaS companies, please contact me through the website and we can have a chat too.

My first comment would be to reflect of you market yourself as zapier alternative. Maybe rather n8n alternative, until you can offer a hosted solution?
And a website which doesn't say 'parked by GoDaddy' certainly helps.

    Regards

    Torsten

    1. 1

Hi, that's a great idea. I'll definitely reach out to you.

We'll launch the hosted solution pretty soon, and we'll deploy the landing page by then :)

I'm wondering what are the problems you want to solve that Zapier and other such tools don't? It's a crowded market and I think it's difficult to compete with them given the primary feature is the number of integrations they have.

    There's an open-source tool called n8n.

    Good luck anyway!

    免费的产品价值是最昂贵的!

  12. 1

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I was just trying out n8n.io , another Zapier replacement, last night. Please tell us how your product and business model is different.

    1. 1

      Not at all.
There is a huge demand for a self-hosted version of Zapier and regarding n8n I think the only thing regarding the technology that we have in common is being code-available.

  13. 1

You should check Bardeen too. It's a really good tool.

    1. 1

      Sure, will do.
