zero coding knowledge - where do i start?
I have an online business idea but zero coding experience or understanding. I will work with a developer but I want to have a basic understanding of what I'm looking for before I have start to have meetings. Is there a book or online course that can explain the basics to me?

Start selling to potential customers. I mean cold phone calls.
Prepare a landing page using carrd.co or anything else.
Once you have good feedback/support, think about building your software.

Hey, Patrick! I am, just as you are, a newbie coder. I know some basic HTML, CSS, and JS.
If you have an idea for an online business, you first need to specify what it is you are looking to make: is it an online store? Is it a social media platform? Is it an [insert idea here]?
With this knowledge, you can start googling around and asking yourself and others the question: where do I start? For webpages, you at least need HTML and CSS to code the webpages itself. Requests to servers can be made with PHP, to create dynamic websites (ones that change when other variables change). Javascript allows for animation, for example, but also for a bunch of other things.
Usually the best idea is to just start somewhere and not switch languages/techstacks all the time. It's important to stay focused, and do it one step at a time. I recommend MAKEbook by Pieter Levels if you're interested in building startups without funding: http://makebook.io
It pretty much depends on the kind of web app you want to create. Should it be just a landing page? Or do you want to create a prototype? Or, maybe it should be a clone of well-known apps?

Hey Patrick. I would recommend https://learn.freecodecamp.org/. It's really good at helping you pick up the fundamentals HTML, CSS and JavaScript reasonably quickly.
Check out bubble.is. We started out thinking it would just be a good prototyping platform but ended up building out our entire app there with very little coding experience.
When/if a project really takes off I'm thinking it would need to be redone with hired coders, but bubble is going to give us a long runway before that happens.
