We did not rush for shipping our MVP due to the technical challenges we were facing and had decided to take it slow while I started working over 80 hours a week to fund this project.
This time gave the team the chance to focus more on core and me, the chance to collect as many funds as I can to support future development.
The idea needed validation and that came when I started pitching to my clients for whom I work as a freelancer. Both of my customers decided to try our MVP when its ready and we gave them access to basic functionality without any UI. Basically, we got our first customer before we even had an MVP.
The team's morale has boosted and we went ahead hiring a front-end developer, Raneen.
How come no one around me not know how to get started? I had to make a way out. I hence simplified the whole concept into 1 single request- "Get my Shopify Data and Send it over to CSV". I posted this request on Upwork and due to a small request, I had budget to hire multiple Devs.
The idea was that if someone could do this, then they could help me also develop it. With this, I hired 3 Developers, of which one dropped before completing the request, one couldn't help and the last one, Mohamed said he can develop the app single handedly!
I had no idea how to code and am very alien to the idea of having a cofounder. I hence approached my dev contacts and friends in the circle and every one of them could not help. There was no scope in sight and I had no idea how to start. Feb 17 being my birthday, I decided its time to either do or die, it was a die but the fire in me had other plans.
Selling products on Shopify, I wanted to see a single view of my data so that I can know what the actual profit/loss I an incurring for each product. Existing products in the market are either designed for big players or were very difficult to get through. being a non-Techie Data analyst (my skillset were data warehousing, Databases, Tableau, and Excel), I did not know how to begin with the development of the product.
Agencies I know used to create products and resell it to other buyers in the market, I cannot risk the same to this idea and hence I was on my own to realize how I can get this product from an idea to its basic first page. For me, at that moment, even a single functional page would be the biggest win.
