123Metrics
Privacy-centered website metrics
Free beer for everyone!
Anyone can now use 123Metrics for free, but with some limitations.
This was done in mind with the fact that 123Metrics is catered towards startups, small businesses and small websites and knowing that dealing with startup life is hard, that's why I've decided to implement a free-forever subscription plan.
This way the first money barrier is eliminated and more visitors are encouraged to try out 123Metrics, so it is a win-win.
I prepped with 2 days in advance all the resources I needed for the launch ( texts, images, gifs, etc)
Learned that the race starts at 00:00 PST
In hindsight, there are a couple of things that I could've done better, but aren't they always :)
The launch did not go so well. I think one of the main factors was that I hunted my own product. I did not have the necessary time to search for possible hunters.
But overall it was a good experience.

Took my longer that it should've, because of a couple of hiccups along the way and I've also had 1 week of vacation in this period, but the website and product were ready for launch (but not yet launching)
Alongside the developing of the product and website, I had figured out and learned many other things, like for example:
- How to implement a pricing strategy based on the value that you offer to your customers.
- At just a glance on the website, the visitors should understand what your product is and does. (I've come across many websites where this is a problem)
- Just when you think you are ready to launch there is still some unforeseen issue or oversight you must resolve.

I was really not looking forward to this, as building websites hasn't been exciting for me for some time now, but it had to be done :)
Alongside this, I was continuing to refine and add more features to the actual product and it came along pretty nicely.
It was already up and running gathering metrics on one of my other websites.

It took a bit over a month of working mostly on the weekends and sometimes a couple of hours during the workdays but I finally had a working MVP.
The third version of a working MVP actually, but let this be our little secret :)
PRO TIP: Never linger so long on choosing the 'perfect' VPS solution.

I have my wife to thank for encouraging me to start working on this!
So I began by choosing the programming languages I would use and started experimenting with ideas of how it should work.
Although the programming languages I use are those I know very well, I tried to do things a bit differently, just to mix it up a bit.

123Metrics has two important pillars at it's core: 1. I wanted to start working on something that I can call my own 2. That something should focus on a persistent phenomenon that exists in nowadays (lack of privacy)
