It's kind of a BS title as it's all based on referrals (https://help.shopify.com/en/partners/faq/experts#whats-required-of-an-expert). It's been over a year since I've moved away from trying to be an expert, but I had to meet some threshold of referral business to be considered an expert and needed to maintain that or else I would lose the status. The fact that they were incentivizing for good marketers and not high quality technical shopify pros rubbed me the wrong way and felt like like some MLM scheme.
I'm assuming you're asking because you want the business for 25/7? I ran a very similar company over a year ago. We had a productized service for small shopify and wordpress web tasks in 24/48/72 hr turnaround. Definitely have a bunch of learnings from it, let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for response. It's greatly appreciated. Yeah, I'm looking for ways to drum up business for 25/7. I was making a decent amount of money via referrals. I'm looking forwards generating sales independent of me.
An area that I would have continued down if I had stuck with my business was building shopify apps for pains that I saw my clients having. I was getting a ton of inbound ideas for shopify apps. I even built a private one for one customer and it's been running for 2 years now. There is a huge opportunity there and will get you into the SAAS revenue streams.
