I've finished creating a dynamic coupon system that allows me to create one-off and persistent discount codes! This system still uses Stripe to process payments, but stores discount codes internally.
To celebrate this feature, I'm creating a new coupon code just for IHers: the first 5 people to use the coupon "INDIEHACKER" can post a job for $39!
Nearly a year after launching the initial version of 30 Hour Jobs, I've finally finished rebuilding the site to offer more features and functionality! To celebrate this milestone, I'm calling this version v2 and I'm doing a launch on Product Hunt. If you're part of that community, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the discussion there!
Today, I broke the 1600 mark for newsletter subscribers. Engagement rates on the emails are great with 35-45% open rates and 7-10% click-through rates on weekly digest emails as well as general news and update emails.
I'm considering looking for a sponsor for the newsletter. Does anyone have any recommendations for going about doing this?
After running 30 Hour Jobs without charging for posts since its creation, I'm now charging $99 per job post per 30 days.
I used Stripe for the integration which was very simple and well documented. It only took a couple hours to integrate.
I'm on an SEO kick right now with 30 Hour Jobs. I recently wrote a page dedicated to information about a 4 day work week as well as a page dedicated to people-first jobs.
The pages obviously target some keywords for SEO, but my main goal here is to convey valuable information about each topic as it relates to the site. I want to show visitors what the site is about, beyond a title and a catchphrase.
SEO experts out there: do you think this approach is valuable? Do you have any advice beyond what I've already done?

Blog posts are always a great way to find like-minded people and attract them to your product.

I've just finished migrating the 30 Hour Jobs blog to the main website from a separate subdomain running Ghost. I'm still using Ghost as a headless CMS and using the content API to query the data before rendering the pages.
I hope to improve the SEO ranking of the site but merging the two sites into one. This also gives me more control over the design of the site and allows me to optimize more for visitors to see recent job posts.

I'm no way an SEO expert but I've had this "problem" two times in the past. I started with blog.mysite.com and then switched to mysite.com/blog
Each time I saw a slight decrease in search traffic followed by an increase.

After posting a comment on Hacker News that got a lot of attention, the 30 Hour Jobs mailing list now has over 1500 subscribers!
I’m working on an automated weekly digest that should be done soon to send out sweet sweet job posts to them without needing to spend an hour every week writing the email.

I just whipped up a new blog post on some options on how to offer your team more flexibility. Remote working has become a big trend in the last 5-10 years, but how else can we offer more options?
Some options:
- Allow Shifted Schedules
- Allow Shorter Work Weeks
- Cycle Workers to Part-Time When They Request It
Leaders and managers: how do you offer flexibility to your teams? Do you see a measurable benefit from these offerings?

Treat people like responsible adults and they will then behave accordingly! :)
Allow people to make their own decisions in how they should work.
Stop tracking hours, it is stupid.

Completely support and agree!
What I'm doing is just setting up some goals for some time frame and that's it. Nothing else.Also, we can make some calls to sync from time to time...
But I should note that it only works with people you trust and who are professionals, this won't work with anyone.

After many hours of work, I'm excited to finally make the new version of 30 Hour Jobs live!
The experience is designed to be much more cohesive. I hope that the changes will make the site easier and more enjoyable to use for both job seekers and employers.

I'd consider adding a way to filter based on location (or remote).

Yeah a search or filter is definitely on the todo list.
Interesting idea scraping other job sites - currently I do manual work to curate the jobs but it would be nice to automate this. If I could maintain a high bar for the quality of job posts and companies I would consider it!
