When my kid struggled with basic math, I started looking for something simple to help — not a gamified app with a paywall, not a platform that needs an account just to show a few numbers. Just something clean and visual that actually makes sense to a child's brain.
That search didn't go well. Most tools were either too complicated, too expensive, or buried under so many features that the actual learning got lost. So I did what any frustrated parent-slash-builder does — I made it myself.
That's how abacustool.xyz was born.
The idea is pretty old actually. The abacus has been helping people understand numbers for thousands of years, and there's a reason it's still taught in schools across Asia. It makes math visible. Instead of memorizing that 5+3=8, a child physically moves beads and watches it happen. That click of understanding is hard to get from a worksheet.
What I focused on keeping it:
No account needed. You open the site, the abacus is there. That's it.
Free, always. I genuinely believe a basic math tool shouldn't cost a family anything.
Simple enough for a 5-year-old. No tutorial required, no onboarding flow, just beads that slide.

I like the philosophy behind this. Sometimes the best educational tools aren't the ones with the most features—they're the ones that remove every distraction and let the concept become obvious. That simplicity is a feature in itself.
