Newsletter summaries for Gmail

July 19, 2023 First version is out!

I've launched the first version of abstrafeed (an app to turn Gmail newsletters into digestible summaries using AI). Already, I've actually found it very useful for myself.

However, I have encountered some teething problems, and I'm facing something very similar to a 'cold start' problem. I need users to request newsletter summaries so I can cache them. Essentially, until my backend processes newsletters, new users might not see immediate summarizations. It can take some time.

This experience kinda sucks, and I'm working hard to fix it. In the meantime, I'm offering free trials to help offset this inconvenience.

Oh, and I also launched on product hunt. Check it out here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/abstrafeed

May 22, 2023 Starting a new AI project

I think I finally found something I could build in the AI space that I want to use myself. An app that connects to Gmail and summarizes your newsletters!

Like most indie hackers, I subscribe to a lot of newsletters. They're like tiny treasure chests with all sorts of interesting stuff. But let's be honest, who has time to sift through that information deluge daily?

Past attempts to use dedicated newsletter readers have left me frustrated. Setting up a new email and resubscribing to everything has been too much of a hassle, and I have always resorted back to Gmail. That's why I'm keeping it simple at looking into connecting to users' Gmail and providing summaries of already received emails.

About

I love reading newsletters but it just takes too much time to sift through them all. So, why not leverage AI to lighten the load? I wanted to create something with AI that was truly useful and scratch my own itch.
